Both systems have control pods which is what drew me to them. I really like the convenience of having the volume switch close at hand. The reason that I prefer this system to the Cyber Acoustics is that the speakers are compact and well balanced with the weight at the bottom. The Cyber Acoustic speakers were top heavy and easily got knocked over. I think the wiring was eventually knocked loose and the speakers malfunctioned as did the power control which continually turned itself on even when the pc was hibernating.
The sound is good in both systems but I prefer this Logitech system simply because of the design of the speakers. Hopefully, the fact that they do not get tipped over as easily will mean that this system lasts longer than the Cyber Acoustics system.
Update: I received and installed the replacement "woofer/controller" ... it is definitely better, but still hums. I added an extra star to my review. I can hear it if the room is quiet and I'm sitting by my computer. To me it sounds like an unshielded transformer or a low frequency feedback problem. BTW, I found Logitech very responsive to my problem. They sent a replacement out quickly, so kudos to the company.
I ultimately might purchase a small dedicated amplifier with two decent small shelf-speakers to replace this Logitech system as I still find it to bassy for my taste.
-Sound quality and clarity is impressive given price.
-Lots of low-end/bass power and clarity
-Control module is convenient to allow speakers to be placed in appropriate locations and keep volume/power/headphone controls easily within reach.
-Speakers and woofer are reasonably small in profile, thus don't take up too much space
-No Bass Volume Control (note that they are pretty bassy)
-Control module has nothing to easily keep it in place
Solutions to Cons:
-Downloaded/Installed Equalizer APO for Win7/8/8.1 which was adequate for easily creating a custom EQ for the sound device utilizing these speakers where I can quickly turn on/off some bass-cut EQ profiles. I'd still prefer to have a separate bass volume control, but this at least makes it possible to reduce the thumpy bass sounds when not wanting to disturb sleeping family members.
-Could easily attach some adhesive sticky pads to the bottom of the control module to help it stay in place on a desk.
I'm quite happy to say that these speakers we're an impressive upgrade to an aging set of 2.1 CyberAcoustics (26W) speakers that I've had for nearly 10 years now. I had debated staying with CA to replace my previous set, and had no intent on spending too much more than ~$30 (this was about how much I had spent on those speakers). The reviews for comparable CA replacements seemed to be largely mixed, and many recommended looking to Creative or Logitech for alternatives. Considering it appeared that no brand at this price range for 2.1 speaker sets had separate bass volume controls; I decided to go with these since there was an Amazon Prime deal on price and shipping - and that reviews made direct comparisons to the CA counterpart and made a good case for why they were better.
I had concerns that the increase in power output (50W) might look impressive on a spec sheet, but could result in a dirty/distorted low-end given how small the speakers are, but that's not the case. Bright and clean bass sounds come out with refreshing clarity and aren't over modulated.
They are great speakers, however, they did not come with any instructions or pictures... I know what you may be thinking, "they are just speakers... Plug them in and listen" :) well I missed the Speaker Output on the rear of the subwoofer and instead plugged them into the headphone jack on the little corded remote. I was devastated when I could barely hear a song playing. I messed with Realtek settings and other various audio controls on my PC with little-to-no improvement.
I had given up and was unplugging everything to send back(Let's be real... I was pissed!) This would've been the first Logitech item I had an issue with. Then I saw 'Speaker Output' there on the back of the subwoofer, I plugged it all back together and it was GLORIOUS!
