Why Logitech stopped making this microphone is beyond me. I have two of them, one I bought new and the other refurbed because logitech doesn't make them anymore.

The sound quality is great, it looks like a pro microphone on my desktop. I've been using them for years for online meetings. They hold up really well and sound great.

The mute button lights up when the microphone is un-muted so you won't make any boo boos.

Worth buying one used / refurbed, nothing touches this microphone for looks / usefulness.

I purchased this microphone back in January of 2010 and wound up receiving a good 5+ years of usage. I used this primarily for communication on my Windows 7 64-bit PC and the sound came out crystal clear on the other end. I absolutely loved the fact that you could turn it off by a tap of a button. The light indicator notifies you whether it's on or off. I also loved that you could adjust the receiver either up or down depending on where you need to point it. The length of the cord was perfect as well.

Unfortunately, all it took was one little mistake by accidentally dropping it on the carpeted floor. The receiving part of it was busted, leaving exposed wiring. It would no longer stand in an upright position. I also believe that, since these were produced starting in 2001, that it is probably NOT USB 3.0 compatible.

Overall, this was a great microphone to have.

I bought one of these years ago because I was generally not a fan of wearing a headset and preferred to simply use the nice speakers I had for my PC instead of a headset for communication while gaming. While the audio on this was pretty good, unfortunately even with the supposed noise cancellation and the settings in Windows to prevent it, there was still not enough of that to stop this mic from picking up the sound from the speakers. This resulted in people complaining of echoing and hearing my audio over the voice comms. So in the end, even though I bought this to avoid using a headset or headphones, I still had to use a pair of headphones when gaming with friends.

Aside from that though the microphone had great pick up. My voice always came in nice and clear to those on the call with me, and the sensitivity on the mic was truly impressive. I have a mechanical clock with chimes in the living room which is down the hall and around the corner, but whenever it went off people on the call could hear it just fine. If I went to the kitchen to get something they could hear the fridge shut or the drawers sliding open and closed, even though the kitchen was even further than the living room. It seemed this little mic could clearly pick up just about any sound from anywhere in the house. This also meant that there would be problems however, as my phone going off across the room would be really irritating to people, or if I bumped the desk the mic was on the resulting sound on their end was pretty loud. In the end though it served me very well for 7 years before I finally replaced it.

In the end I decided that if I had to wear headphones anyways, I might as well get a really nice pair. And since the best gaming headsets all have mics attached I ended up getting a headset. At first I just used them as headphones, but one day I did try the mic portion of it and the people on the call said the vocal quality was much better and it was no longer picking up all the background noise either. So, I eventually switched to the headset mic and this now just hangs out in a drawer as a back up. It did the job well for years though, but there are better options. (especially since I see the price is over $100 now? I paid waaaaaaay less than that when I bought it)

Perfect for Desktop recording and Dragon Speech Recognition

I have used Creative Sound cards and good quality headsets to get good enough sound quality to make Dragon Naturally Speaking work well.

On-board sound is often not high quality enough for good results. A good aftermarket Creative labs sound card that is better than on board sound can cost $50-100 -- or even several hundreds.

This simple, light, unobtrusive desktop microphone makes recording audio notes and doing Dragon dictation at your desk ridiculously easy.

Even in my office with a train passing by, no problems with speech recognition.

I was not using the Dragon software I paid for. Who wants to sit at their desk wearing a cordless headest and take it on and off, over and over?

This sits on the corner of my desk and I dictate when I want by just activating the mic. Awesome.

This thing is amazing. I bought another for my home computer for the same reason.

It probably is not as good as a $100-300 desktop mic for podcasting or recording music, like the excellent Blue Yeti Mic (amazing for recording music and singing), but it is a hands-free godsend for those of us who like to dictate rather than type all of the time.

Cannot recommend it highly enough for its intended purpose. This thing should eb sold with Dragon Naturally Speaking. Its that good.
