I've been using this Mini Optical Mouse for about 7 years...no problems. The size is perfect for my small hands...so comfortable. This bad boy was built to last...after all these years it still work's perfectly. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I wish the USB receiver was smaller and the mouse had an On & Off switch to it. To turn the mouse off you have to snap the USB receiver on to the bottom of the mouse (it's docking station). If you travel a lot with your Laptop, this Mouse may not be right for you. The USB could easily unsnap from the mouse while in your bag causing it to turn itself on accidently. To be on the safe side you can choose to remove the battery from the mouse before placing it in to your bag or you can do as I always do...use a thick rubber band to secure it in place. This could be a hassle for some, but for me...I still wouldn't trade this Mouse for any other.

I ordered this about a week ago for my laptop after my wired mini mouse died. The wire had been making me crazy so I figured I'd try wireless. When I did receive it, it was much larger then I expected. My other mouse was really small and people often pointed at it and laughed....this one is in my opinion about 25-35% smaller then a regular mouse, my other one was probably 50-60% smaller then a regular mouse. So that kinda bummed me out(for some reason I just really loved the small size, it worked nicely for my hands). So far it works great, a little stick plugs into the USB, no other wires or accessories with it. I've been using it on my couch and coffee table, so it works great on a variety of surfaces.

It took me an hour or two to download the correct software off the logitech website, it wasn't very helpful in telling me which version I needed(there were 2-4 choices in each category, it was confusing for me), all I knew was I needed windows vista, but didnt know if I needed 32 or 64 bit, etc. After I figured that out, it has worked great since. Only other annoying thing, it seemed to put unnecessary programs on my laptop that I have to shut down every time I start up(until I get the time/inclination to get them off the computer). So that was also aggravating. So, all in all, actual product is super, some of the other stuff is annoying.

Perfect for little hands and very good optical tracking

I bought this product specifically for my 5 1/2 year old grandson as it is too tough for him to manipulate the full size mouse. When I got it, I did have a bit of trouble getting the software installed but most likely that was me. Once configured, I can switch back and forth or even have both hooked up and working at once so there were no conflicts between it and my regular Microsoft wireless optical mouse. The really amazing thing about this mini mouse is it's superior ability to work without a mouse pad on surfaces like my desk or the kitchen table. My Microsoft full size and the same on my wife's computor, neither one will work w/o the mouse pad as the pointer simply doesn't move or it moves roughly because the optics don't 'see' the table or desk surface very well.

As far as my using the mini... I don't find it a good fit. I'm 6'2" with seemingly normal sized hands and between the mini and full size, I prefer the full size. The mini is as it should be... it is small and though I can use it fine it takes a while to get used to it. If I ever traveled with my laptop it would be awesome as with the mouse's size and the tiny USB transmitter, it is so much less to haul. Battery life seems good and I'm using it with 2500 mAhr AA Duracell rechargebles as with all my other AA stuff anymore.

To summarize, it works great and especially for small hands.

great mouse, software sometimes needs reinstall

Physically I like every thing about the mouse, feels great, small, receiver snaps to the mouse when not in use and conserves power (turns it off when snapped in).

With the downloaded software, I like the left/right extra 2 buttons effect of the wheel, I use it to scroll left/right on spreadsheets a lot. I find that pressing the wheel sometimes takes two tries, as it sometimes rolls instead of acting like a middle mouse button.

Only glitch is that on 3 occasions I had to reinstall the sofware. Once after xp updated itself, and twice it would stop showing the first tab where you configure the mouse. It would only show the tab with help/contact info. But just doing a reinstall (so keep the file handy) works, w/o needing to uninstall first.

I wish it had a way to add a qualifier - like control down while using the middle button (the wheel) so I could both program that for auto-scroll and zoom.

I have no difficulty with where I place the mouse vs. receiver, and I was considering getting another for a friend but wondered about interference when hooked to two machines close to one another (say my laptop and my friend's as we work together).

I paid $15.44 for this, including shipping. It got here very quickly. It was my last Christmas purchase...days later than the others - and yet it got here quicker than most of the other orders.

I took it out of the package - plugged it in - and it didn't seem to work. So, I decided to go to the website and download the software (like the package recommended) and while I was getting set to do that, it started working. So, I didn't even download the software. I will later, if it becomes an issue. (I guess it just needed a minute to get settled in...lol.)

Note: Beware that you may have to get used to the fast tracking. I went in to my settings and tried to set it slower, but that really didn't help. But, besides that, I have no issues.

Great Mouse

I purchased one of these at a big box store several years ago and it worked great. I recently got another one from Amazon as part of a gift for my daughter.
I used the first one with my laptop that I have since passed to my sister and it is still working great. She seems to like it fine. It is not too big or too small.
I liked the size and operation of it as well or better than the Logitech mouse I am currently using for my desktop.
For the price, this model, as well as other models of Logitech mice have worked excellent for me.
