Great Mouse for WoW but Not a Panacea

Great Mouse for WoW but Not a Panacea
2021 Update:I'm still using this mouse. I just bought another one even though the one I have is working fine. I'll just keep that in storage. At least if Logitech stops making this mouse, I'll have a couple in reserve. I love it that much.--I like this mouse a lot. For years I played WoW with a standard mouse but then made the jump to this beast because I had an extra few bucks. I think it was worth it.It is comfortable in my hand. It doesn't seem overly large or small, just perfect. All the buttons are smartly placed. The 12 buttons on the side were engineered in such a way that you can easily discern one from the other (although there have been times in arenas where I've been pummeled on and I frantically mashed the wrong buttons, but I think that had more to do with the stupid warrior beating on me than a fault in the design itself).I don't really use the software that comes with the device for button mapping, or anything really, so I'm prolly not using it to its full potential, but that's ok. I simply use WoW's interface to map a certain spell to a particular button. Nothing to fancy. It works for me. But I don't switch from multiple games either. I mainly play WoW. Your miles may vary although I think there are some videos you can check out if you're having problems with the setup. I found a few useful ones.In terms of construction, the mouse itself has a great balance to it. It feels substantial in my palm as I move it which I like. It's accurate enough for WoW though I'm fairly confident it could handle FPS games with aplomb. The cord is long and sort of braided with this non-plasticky material which is nice. The cord is flexible, not rigid. The lighted side buttons are not distracting during night game play. One of the features I like is that if you're the type to play several different types of games, you can switch modes within the software so that the mouse remembers your keybinds. For example, if I play WoW, I have it set up so that the side numbers are synonymous with a numeric keypad. But, if for example, you wanted to switch that for an FPS game, you could. The different modes you are in are signified by different colors which you can set using the software. Again, since I almost exclusively play WoW, I don't really use this feature too much. One minor complaint is that when I turn on my computer the default gameplay mode is not WoW, so sometimes I'll be in an arena mashing buttons and nothing happens until I'm like Oh Yeah, and hit the button for WoW mode (it makes more sense once you actually use the mouse). I'm sure there is some sort of setting to make my WoW settings the default on startup but I don't have the time, nor inclination, to try and figure it out.In short, this is a solid gaming mouse for MMOs such as WoW. If you don't think you need all those buttons, you probably don't. If you've played WoW for years and can beat the Lich King with your eyes closed, then you prolly don't need this. If you can already melt everyone's face in bgs with your spriest as you dance on their corpse, you prolly don't need this mouse. However, if you want to have more buttons so your fingers don't dislocate as you reach mightily for the dreaded + button (the only button you had left to map) to cast a spell whilst your raid members are yelling at you to "GET OUT OF THE FIRE", then maybe this mouse will make your life easier. I mean, it's not a miracle worker. If you were a 1300 rating WoW player before, this mouse isn't going to magically get you a 2200+ rating w/ the Arena Master title in two days.

This is my first MMO gaming mouse, so in fairness I don't really have anything to compare it to. But I love this mouse!! I don't think I'm going to be able to go back to a regular mouse now. Will try to be as objective as possible about my pros and cons with it.

Pros:
-The side buttons feel *great* to press. Just the right amount of resistance and mechanical feel to them.
-The side buttons are each raised or tilted a little differently so it didn't take long for my fingers to start to recognize which button was what without looking.
-The fourth top button ("G Shift" button) next to right click has been very useful. I've using it to focus and cycle through enemy targets.
-No noticeable input delays, glides well over my mat. Overall works great for FPS games I'd say as well, not just MMOs. Was not expecting it to perform as well as it did, I was expecting to plug it in whenever I play wow and use my old mouse for FPS. Pleasantly surprised. And the side buttons are great for reload, grenade, emotes, etc.

Cons:
-The mouse runs a bit wide as a result of having that G Shift button. I consider it a decent tradeoff personally because I do like the utility of that button there and I have pretty big hands anyway, but others might find this annoying. If you have small hands it may be straight up uncomfortable to use.
-The software is pretty terrible. I mean, it's useable but it could have been designed way better. It also uses alot more ram than I thought it would and I'm not entirely sure...why? To put into perspective I'm looking at my task manager and somehow it is taking up almost as much ram as steam. I have plenty of ram so it's not a huge issue but definitely will be a strong con for some people that don't have it to spare.
-Whatever material it's made out of does collect oils very easily. It is not matte, it is not grippy. It's just plastic I think.

Neutral
-The RGB is only on the side buttons. Not really important hence why it's in neutral but my last mouse had the logo on the palm was RGB, the cracks through left, middle, and right click were RGB. So it's sticking out to me like a sore thumb on my setup especially since I usually game in the dark. This might bother some people idk so putting it here.

a Great quality mouse, the buttons all work beautifully and scroll is satisfying. Feels light to push around and still hefty upon pickup. Tons of buttons to assign actions to makes this mouse my go-to gaming mouse, and the second right click makes it comfortable to rest a hand on for long periods. Its Very durable, highly recommend.
(confidently speaking on durability as my first G600 went through absolute hell for 8 years before it started to break down on me.. I'm talking dogs pulling the cord and it smashing onto concrete floor constantly for years , and went through a VERY rough move across the entire country and then some, unprotected in a box with a ton of other stuff on top of it *not my doing - our packers weren't great* , chocolate milk was spilled into at one point, spilled water plenty of times onto it, honey even got into it while i was babysitting once, and this mouse held up well beyond all that happening. And even then the only problem is the scroll wheel doesn't scroll upward anymore so I bought this new one.)
Pictured: blue is old, black is recently bought
***My one and only complaint has nothing to do with the mouse itself, but the delivery drivers actions. When the delivery driver arrived he tossed the box very rough and carelessly onto my porch. I heard the box slam on the ground as I went to go check my door. This mouse obviously still works beautifully, as the durability level is insane, but had it been anything else it very much would have broken on arrival. But obviously that isn't a sellers issue so I'm not reducing starts for the product itself. (:

I have had this mouse for a few weeks now, and I have to say that it has been a blast. The mouse has definitely lived up to my expectations.

The main sale point for this mouse is most likely the programmable and illuminable G-buttons on the side of the mouse. It took me time to program the keys for general use and games. Most of my games are still not using the buttons though. The buttons have a great layout, which could be somewhat explained by saying that they are in two "columns" of six buttons. They took a while to get used to, but now it feels good and natural. The side buttons are not too sensitive, so you don't usually accidentally press them. I have a pretty hard grip on my mouse, so in the start I was pressing the buttons quite often, but nowadays it doesn't really happen.

The mouse comes with a program by Logitech to configure all the settings. I have found this program to be most useful, since it has all the settings I need for a mouse. Things like bound keys, lights and DPI are changeable on this program.

I do have some things that I find irritating on the mouse. The middle mouse button can be flicked left and right to work as a backwards-forwards button on things like your web browser. In my experience this almost always goes back by two pages instead of one, which is not really nice. It may be because of how flick the button, or it may be a problem by only this mouse, but I wanted to state it out. Other complaint is the G-switch button on the right side of the mouse, next to your right mouse button. I have to say that so far I have found this button absolutely useless, and just annoying. It is used to change the functions of the G-keys on the fly. I personally don't find this necessary, since the mouse has three modes for every program already. This does, in theory, double the amount of buttons you have, which may be useful in things like WoW or other such MMOs. For me, though, this button is (so far) been useless.

The accuracy of the mouse itself is great. No problems with that. The weight of the mouse can not be changed unlike in many other models, but that hasn't bothered me yet. It is the heaviest mouse I have yet used, but it definitely feels the best. You can lay your hand on the mouse comfortably.

Overall, great purchase, especially for people who really love having all sorts of functions easily available by the click of your thumb.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still the best one out there as long as you don't mind a chonker with a lot of weight.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 4, 2024
Spent the last few months (years?) testing different mice trying to find something I really liked as much as my old G600, I wanted something wireless that maybe wasn't so heavy. But after going through a few of the other top mice out there, I came right back to this and think I am going to stick with it.

For those that don't know, the G600 is a freaking TANK of a mouse when it comes to size and weight coming in at a whopping 133 grams not including the cable. But with this you get a lot of unique features, a solid sensor, and relatively good switches that in my super long experience with the G600 never double click (though a few people have reported that issue, I haven't seen it.

First and foremost, 3rd click, 3rd click, 3rd click. Oh did I mention this mouse has a 3rd click? I'm actually not sure people that haven't used the mouse know this, the G600 has 3 clicks not 2, you have your standard left and right click, but your ring finger rests on a 3rd click on the mouse that is super useful. I really can't understand how no other mice have done this, it's a great addition to any gaming mouse and if you aren't aiming for literally the lightest mouse out there, it's nothing but a plus side. So useful for in game actions, changing hot bars in ESO, crouching in Warframe, etc.... it's just such a nice feature and IMO many more mice should be doing this.

Now of course the other appeal to the G600 is all the freaking buttons, there are so many you can program and I just love it, allows me to focus on WASD with my left hand in most games which is perfect. I personally have never been a fan of using things like the number row in games, I find I fat finger things too much and it's just not comfortable, not to mention I can't be moving when using a given finger to press an action (i.e. if I use my middle finger for W and 3 I can't move forward an execute 3 at the same time). This is huge for many games including a lot of FPS games.

I also actually prefer a heavy mouse for some use cases, depends on the goal but I find this more comfortable to use than other mice I've used in the past.

Now I think the last important thing to mention about the G600 is the side buttons and how much better laid out they are than the Naga Pro (or any Naga for that matter). The Naga series has a very small profile of side buttons that don't stick up much and are all relatively the same feel. In contrast the G600 has angled buttons that alternate from front to back, making it really obvious which key your fingers are on so I've found in a quick action scenario I am much less likely to press the wrong button. IMO this is huge for a mouse with this many buttons and shouldn't be overlooked. It's also overall bigger than the Naga which IMO is nice, but that is just me, some people like smaller mice.

In conclusion, I think the G600 really is my endgame mouse until something to replace it comes from Logitech, which I'm hoping does happen sometime soon as it's about time this thing got a refresh. If you like mice with buttons, this should be on your short list and is probably still the best one out there as long as you don't mind a chonker with a lot of weight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Świetna myszka do MMORPG i nie tylko
Reviewed in Poland on August 9, 2022

Przed tą myszką miałem 3 inne myszki Logitecha; M100, M705 i - G700s.

Myślę, że tutaj też by to mogło być (no bo czemu by nie).
