I connected it to my computer with the supplied USB cable, went to the website, and the experience was mostly smooth. I had to install software for setup but that was easy. It would be nice if they gave a dropdown list for models when you choose a manufacturer, but I had the info so it wasn't a problem. I had an account created and my devices registered in under 10 minutes. The hard part came when I wanted to assign buttons. You get an image of the Harmony remote and click on the button you'd like to assign, then choose the command from a list for the remote it's replacing. What they don't tell you is that you have to click on the word "assign" which appears to the right; I kept trying to click the name of the button when it highlighted and getting no response. After you do assign buttons you then have to click "sync" for the changes to be programmed to the remote. That was 15 total minutes of needless frustration. After that it was all done, I could make use of the 5 favorite channel buttons to choose my input source. There's also one button which powers everything on or off with a single press, though the remote has to be far enough back for all my devices to be successfully targeted.
Ease of use:
The type on the source buttons is small so I took a minute to commit to memory which one controls what, and now it's intuitive. The remote itself is extremely comfortable to hold, and I like the feel of the volume and channel buttons in particular as they can easily be identified in the dark. I'm easily able to do everything on my DirecTV box I could with the original without any reconfiguring needed. Button presses register very easily and consistently provided you aim reasonably well.
What could be better:
I really wish this remote had Bluetooth functionality so I could use it on my computer and Playstation. I wasn't willing to drop a fortune on one of the high end Harmony remotes and have a cradle, hub and other such things creating clutter. I'm not sure why it can't do what a $25 PS3 remote can without all the extras.
I paid $39 for this and it's well worth the price. It feels fancy, looks nice and is highly responsive.
As far as the set up goes, Im on a mac and it was really easy to download and install the MyHarmony program used to set up and make changes to the remote. The program goes through everything step-by-step and it was really very easy to get my remote set up with in a couple minutes. If you have the specific brands and model numbers ready before you start the set up it will go more smoothly for you.
It is true that this remote only has one task (one click button to start everything) but like I said, since Im running everything through my PS3 all i have to do is click the watch tv button and it the remote will start my TV and put it on the right input; then it starts my receiver and puts that on the right input. The PS3 is a bluetooth system so at that point I just use my PS3 remote to control that. Not too big of a deal for me but if you have something like a roku instead of a PS3 you could have this remote start and control everything in your system. Point being, if you only run a few devices this remote is gonna work great for you.
One other big feature that's missing is the Help button, which automatically attempts to fix incorrectly set inputs and power on devices if they are incorrectly set. Since this remote doesn't have that, you'll find yourself either manually changing inputs (if you're patient) or cycling the Watch TV button on and off until everything powers on in the right order.
Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of Harmony remotes that work great. This one isn't one of them. I guess that it's an upgrade from the "universal" remotes that the cable company gives you with their cable boxes, but you should really pay the extra $10 for the better model.

Main problem, you cannot take the function for a button on the TV remote preset under "devices", such as *picture display* and apply it to a button in the "cable set top box" preset so you do not need to be switching between remote device presets to access functionality.
