Now to the actual review which is going to be more of a comparison with the mouse i know and loved the most, the 502.
First of all, size wise its slightly and by the tiniest of margins, bigger than the 502. That was awesome because most of the buttons are positioned more away from the default position of my hands so I haven't had mis-clicks at all (I have small hands and use a claw/palm hybrid grip) . That was a huge problem with the 502 as I would mis-click a lot and change my sens in between rounds or ping something I didn't want to and it was sort of a pain in the butt so had to unbind all of the extra features and the dpi switching With this, even the sniper button where your thumb goes, I can't mis-click if i tried to. You need definite movement of your fingers to press everything and I love that. I honestly bought the 502 for the infinite scroll wheel and the side scroller but the amount of times i have mis clicked that and its changed weapons just because the infinite scroll was on was not worth it as the only time I actually wanted to use it was for reading long documents. Similar with the profile switcher which I had to disable because of the same reason.
Weight wise its slightly lighter than its older(newer) brethren but that's awesome for me as I love a light mouse that I can move quickly, and i never had the extra weights installed on the 502.
The clicks on the 502 for the main left right buttons are crisper than the 402 but really not a factor at all but the side buttons are crisper on the 402 which is great as it prevent misclicking which was the only issue I had with the 502.
Quality wise, like all logitech products, it delivers (unlike razer mice, sorry fan boys haha I still use the blackwidow though which is excellent) with quality materials and a nice rubberized coating for a solid grip.
The scroll wheel is some form of polymer unlike the 502 which is metal but I find it to be way more solid and crisper than the metal one so love it. Not really a factor at all.
Another huge plus, (again for me not too many people like this) but the 502 had a braided cable that would get caught on everything, my monitor, the edge of my table etc. giving resistance while moving the mouse and ended up tearing it after use but this (402) has a standard cable and the problem doesn't exist at all.
Overall I would recommend this mouse to anyone into gaming and because it was on sale I actually bought a second one for backup immediately after using it. Excellent mouse and great job logitech. Please don't stop production of it cuz I will buy this over any of the newer mice any day .

This seems to be the comment I hear so many times with friends who don't think twice about $50+ on an extra PS4 controller which they never use.
But it's a fair question. Do I really need 10,000 DPI? Do I really need 15 buttons on my right thumb? For most people, the answer is probably no. I just want to shoot people in the face with an accurate and comfortable mouse. What I need is a good and light grip for twitch movements and an accurate sensor.
I have quite a bit of history with gaming mice as I've had to replace them over time: Logitech MX1000, G9X, Razer Diamondback, Original Deathadder, and Corsair M65. Out of all of them, the only ones to have never failed are my Razers.
So how did I come to buy this mouse?
The G9X was by far my favorite mouse to use but it died a premature death due to a... frustrating BF3 session. Out of despair, I had to replace it quickly and the Corsair M65 was the next in line. Despite all the glowing reviews, I could not have hated the M65 more except for the 5 hour battery life on the MX1000.
While Razers have always served me reliably, their price point and large form factor was something that made me shy away from.
After seeing this mouse on sale on Amazon, my general affinity for Logitech and with my M65 middle mouse button failing on me, I knew it was time.
Initial impressions weren't very great with a small cheap box packaging the mouse. But it's the mouse that counts, so when I first opened her up I was further disappointed to see a mouse wrapped in plasticky, non-premium material. Holding it further reinforced my impressions of a overly light cheap mouse. I could only think: "Could Logitech really have fallen this far?"
But of course, these was all baseless impressions before even plugging it into my computer. So with low initial impression in tow, the mouse was plugged in and software was installed.
* = Mixed
+ = Postive
- = Negative
* The mouse feels great in the hands, but that weird shiny plastic line thing on the palm rest feels weird. Design over function I suppose.
+ The rubber grips on the sides are a massive improvement over the M65.
* Side button placement is fantastic, but a bit small for my tastes. The Deathadder's sides were nice and fat but I suppose the could be pressed by accident sometimes.
+ The light weight was actual a positive being able to move the mouse nimbly with a hybrid claw/palm grip.
+ This sensor is absolutely amazing! I'm only running at around 500-800 dpi in most cases but I cannot think of another mouse I've used with such an accurate feel. I know this might just be in my head without actual numbers to prove it but I do know that I've been getting much more PotGs in Overwatch than with the M65.
- The mouse feels a bit bigger than I'd like. It just feels unnecessarily long to me. I'd prefer a compact package like my beloved G9X.
* Config software is simple to use. But Overwolf was installed without my knowledge. Uninstalled it after a few days. Wish they didn't tack it on.
So, what does this all mean?
The chassis could use a lot of work on this mouse but almost all of it could be forgiven for the performance the mouse provides on the inside. I know there are a lot of marketing fluff out there with DPI, IPS, latency, etc etc etc etc. But this mouse really does perform but I wish it didn't look and feel so cheap.
In conclusion, RIP my dear G9X.
Top reviews from other countries
- It has a great sensor
- Really nice rubbery feel
- Those handy extra buttons for games ( that can be configured for anything else ).
- Sniper button, to lower the dpi ( though I never use it )
- Overall great mouse, in case you get it on sale, even better.
- The scroll wheel is really nice and soft to turn, clicks nicely.
- My hands are not big, it fits nicely, no cramping, or irritation.
- Asymmetric design, therefore might not be suitable for lefties.
1 week after getting this mouse the scroll wheel wouldn't scroll up or down anymore. It still clicks. I am returning it and will buy something else. I really did like the mouse, although it's a bit slippery in these cold days in Canada as my hands get cold most of the day.

Original review:
5 stars.
I'm really liking this mouse!
- Great sensor.
- Really nice feel. The sides of the mouse have rubber all over so it grips very well! I am so glad they did that as I can't grip slippery mice well.
- I love all the buttons! I am using the normal side buttons as back and forward, the top left buttons as volume up and down, and the "Sniper" button as a G-Shift button so I can use other commands while clicking it.
- Scroll wheel is soft and extremely easy to turn. Pressing it is not bad, a bit hard but works well! Not the best sound though. It has that hollow cheap sound when clicking the scroll wheel (works great though), unlike the G303 which feels high quality (Same scroll wheel design).
The really strange thing is, for the price, I am not sure why there are no other on-board profiles. There is only one. I would have loved to use the Sniper button to switch between profiles. The cheaper G300s has a button to switch between profiles.
One of the best!
