Top Customer Reviews
The sound is clear, and supposedly, it uses less bandwidth on Skype. It's not terribly intrusive looking in video chats and I like that it goes behind my neck instead of over my head. It's not the most brilliant set I've had, but it is the most reliable. I went through five different sets in two months before I went back to this one.
A week after I wrote this review, the microphone suddenly stopped working. I'm currently speaking with Logitech about what can be done, and will update accordingly. They seem friendly and helpful and have promised to send a replacement.
Is it just me, or do headsets not last like they used to?
Logitech sent me a replacement headset, a wireless one, as this one is no longer made. Customer service was very helpful.
They fold up fairly flat and slide into a zippered bag that's probably 6"x6"x1/2". The bag itself offers zero padding, and I'm constantly expecting it to come out of the bag in pieces. I had a set like this before that folded up much smaller because the headset folded in 3 places. It broke after a couple of months, so maybe it's good that this one keeps its shape.
The headphones slide over the ears and behind the back of the head. The sound is OK for movies and Skype, but these aren't what you want if you really care about sound quality. They are a bit cumbersome and don't allow you to lean back without getting in the way. The earpieces are old-school on-the-ear style headphones with the phone rubber padding. Nothing special, but effective.
The microphone is very good at drowning out background noise, and my wife says it's more like I'm in the room with her than with my Dell laptop built-in mic or the Logitech webcam/mic I sometimes use. It's sort of adjustable, but I can't move it very far away from my mouth without having to speak loudly to be heard.
Overall, they work for what I need and are reasonably priced. I'd probably buy them again, as it seemed the best choice of what I saw on line.
If our new kittens had not chewed through the cable for my old headset I would not have had to replace it as all, so the 6 year live was not its full useful life.
In contracts, I finally got fed up and replaced this new headset about 6 months later. If I had not had a long history of good performance from Logitech products, I might well have sworn off the brand all together, I was so annoyed by a set of changes obviously made to save money, even though these had the same MSRP as my older set.
The headset is comfy. You can adjust the position of the earphones on the "frame" as it were. The microphone position is also fully adjustable. There is a volume dial and a mute button on the headset cord. Music playback through the headphones is good. The unit folds flat enough for reasonable storage in your laptop bag. The provided case/bag is decent.
I was looking for a set of VoIP headphones that folded flat for travel. I got a set of VoIP headphones that folded flat for travel. Must have liked them because I bought a second set for use at the office. And then a third set for use at home. I can't say these are superlative, but they do a lot very well.
The connection is via USB. So if you've got ideas of hooking these to a tablet or mobile device, forget about it.
If you're looking for a set of headphones with a microphone for your travel gear . . . this unit is a rock solid choice.
Over all, pretty decent. Do I recommend? I won't tell you not to get them but I would just consider your other options too.
