Most durable peripheral I have ever used.
5 out of 5 stars
Most durable peripheral I have ever used.
Purchased in 2007 when this thing came out.Almost 12 years now of daily use. And I mean daily. And I am not kind to this thing.Worn down anti-friction pads? Still slippery.Laser? Works fine.Buttons? No failures ever.Scroll wheel? Aside from occasionally needing to clean the slots in the wheel out every few years because I come home from work with greasy hands - still flawless.Texture on top? Perfect.Repeatability? Not amazing, I will admit, but part of this might be mouse settings in windows if I recall correctly.Ergonomics? Would be great if I could stop myself from curling up my ring and pinkie fingers and rest the ring finger on the frame next to the right button (this solves my cramped fingers, but I am dumb as a box of rocks and keep doing it) - why don't more designs include this solid frame? Why must computer mice insist on having buttons that go all the way to the edge? Wack.At the time this thing was the bees knees. Modern mice are much better. Can I get this with slightly better ergo, the same texturing on top, and modern guts? I will be doing my homework but after 12 years its still not up for retirement yet.

I believe this mouse represents the pinacle of design/function that logitech has produced in the past 7 years. It has made it through first person shooters, mmos, rts, and years of design and cad work.

The design of the mouse is perfect for my hand, though a bigger person might take issue with this mouse slight smaller than standard frame. The curves are in the right place so my thumb and pointer fall on the corresponding buttons. The usb cable is high quality and mesh wrapped to prevent getting knotted or tangled, and is long enough to place this mouse anywhere on your desk. The slide surfaces on the bottom keep it moving smooth and are easy to wipe off if any dirt build up. The laser still works like new and I have never had to blow out or clean.

The surface of the mouse is coated with a texture that looks great and provides a good grip. The center scroll wheel is smooth but still easy to scroll and the spring is strong to provide tactile feedback when pressed down. There is only two side buttons on this mouse so if you are looking for a keyboard on your mouse go with a naga. I do feel the button placement is pretty tight so you can at times hit both.

The features of this mouse by todays standards are nothing fancy by todays standards. You can adjust dpi on the fly with the dpi buttons, the highest being the setting I tend to use for most games, sometimes dropping it down to medium for online fps play. The adjustable weight is a good concept, though I cannot say it makes a drastic difference as the mouse slides smooth enough where it dose not feel like much either way.

the option to have it is a nice touch and ads to the quality of this mouse. I think if you can still find it for a good price (hard to do in 2013) it is well worth the investment, even compared to newer models by logitech and razor.

This mouse has some very attractive features, but also has a number of problems that make it very frustrating to use. The cord is awkward and catches on table edges, interfering with motion at times. The glide pads wear away easily. A little bit of dust can turn the mouse cursor into a jittery mess, and the optical sensor is buried within the mouse in a way that makes it difficult to wipe clean.
Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2017
One of the greatest computer mice ever.

As someone who spends a lot of time on a computer for work and enjoys gaming on a computer as well, I use mice fairly often. While I am no expect in the technologies that go into a mouse, I know what I like and what works. This mouse delivers. In terms of the style, this is a fingertip or claw grip mouse. You certainly could use it for a palm grip, but you'd need to have smaller hands (many men and some women would find it too small for a palm grip style of use). That said, the mouse is extremely comfortable to use. The clicks are incredibly satisfying and clear to hear. The scroll wheel likewise gives a tapping noise each time you rotate. Both let you know you've clicked without being too loud or distracting. The actual main buttons are built seamlessly into the body of the mouse and depress easily but noticeably--you won't have any difficulty learning how much pressure to apply to each click. The on-the-fly DPI buttons (speeding up or slowing down the speed of the cursor) are a nice feature, all the more so because there are only three options. I like options, but too many makes my head spin; three choices is going to be the sweet spot for a lot of people. Finally, the front and back arrow buttons on the side by your thumb are awesome. Even a non-gamer would adore this feature of the mouse; the side buttons make surfing the internet a breeze. This is a wired mouse, and while some may prefer a wireless mouse, I prefer the responsiveness of a wire. And what a wire! The cable is over six feet long, allowing for almost any desk setup you want. The covering on the wire is extremely durable and protective while staying flexible. The final feature I like about this mouse is the adjustable weight cartridge. This is such a ground-breaking feature and one I wish every mouse had. Basically, you play around with different layouts and weights in the cartridge until you find one that you like just right, and then you can forget about it. My mouse is exactly the weight I want it to be, not the weight the manufacturer decided. It is a feature you will quickly forget about but one that impacts you daily.

Sadly, the very strengths of this mouse are probably why it isn't being made anymore; it is just too durable for the company to make money on it. I've had mine for eight years(!) and it is still going strong. It is used virtually every day, some days for hours. I cannot even calculate the sheer number of clicks, scrolls, and taps this mouse has endured. Aside from the occasional cleaning I've done nothing special to maintain it.

Do yourself a favor and try to find this mouse. I can't tell you what price point is too high, but if you can count on reliable and amazing service for 8 years (and counting!) from a device you likely will use on a daily basis, you should probably be willing to pay more than you'd think. This is a phenomenal mouse.

Check out some of the other one or two star reviews on this mouse. They mention a cord issue. There is a general theme to all of these complaints including mine... The cord is flawed. The cord is covered in a stiff braided fabric type material. It looks nice. It makes the cord look sturdy and strong when you first buy this mouse. The reality is that the fancy braiding ends up kinking and tightening up on the cord. It ends up fraying and then eventually the cord shorts out. It just happened on my mouse after 6 months. I have a laptop and I travel with it quite often. This cord cannot stand up to being moved or folded up for travel for any length of time. I imagine if you park this thing on your desktop, it would last longer. Unfortunately considering how much this thing costs, there is no excuse for this type of failure. Logitech could care less about this flaw, so once it fails you're on you're own. Buyer beware!
