Top customer reviews
only one speaker was working if it hit that hard the other one starts working. Guess something is loose inside.
I heard reviews about the bad quality check but I thought it will be okay for me, but its bad! sound quality is poor and like I mentioned only one speaker works.
get broken, but at ~$12 I knew I wouldn't care.
The sound on these speakers is very OK. It's the kind of sound you might get out of the speakers in a base model minivan. Almost entirely mids and highs with decent clarity, but kind of flat. There is very little bass to be had out of these, but that's no surprise given the size and price. You'll need a 2.1 system with a subwoofer for real bass.
They get decently loud. I could hear them above the din of hammers, saws, and drills. They do get distorted above ~75-80% volume and the little orange light flickers under the stress. They feature a headphone out jack, which might be nice for some, but honestly you could just as easily plug your headphones into the source itself if need be. They're lightweight and don't have the most premium feel, but they held up well in my use and survived some serious coatings of sawdust.
Like most Logitech accessories these speakers are simple, ever-functional, and economical. They fly pretty much entirely under the radar and are probably best suited for use in a more public setting like a classroom, where you want something that just works and won't be a target for theft. You could use them for your laptop or desktop, but the only major benefit these have over built-in speakers is volume. If you're looking for a pair of speakers to keep on your desk long term for music listening, I'd recommend spending a bit more. 4 stars for value.
Well I'm complaining. The speaker design is stupid. The power comes into the right speaker with a cross over to the left. The left speaker plugs into the jack of the computer. Usually, the one speaker will have the power and the audio in and a simple line will go over to the other. With this design, it limits the range. Most PC's are plugged into a socket near the computer so the Audio in is on the same side. Not this one. The pc is 3 feet away as is the power block. So now the computer speakers sit side by side on the desk, 2 feet away. Awesome. (not awesome)
They also emit a lot of audio feed back, so once i test to makes sure they are the speakers, I'll return them, I'm sure my boss is super happy with his new units.
SOUND: overall good, gets actually surprisingly loud, some distortion when turned past 75% (depends on the type of music and the song, obviously songs with strong heavy bass will effect the sound and may make the speakers distort. The speaker (driver)seem to be 1 3/5 inches/2 inches. They have a max output of: 2.3watts and RMS of: 2.30 which doesn't make sense to me. I assume the max power is 2.3 watts and RMS is 1.15watts. The response bandwidth is 50hz-20khz - to me anything under 80hz is barely audible. These speakers are ported, in the rear of each speaker there is a small hole. The bass is alright, but what can you expect from 10$ speakers? Depending on the song the bass can be more "full" - full, not meaning it sounds like theres a sub, clearly that would be impossible for this size. Mid's seem to be OK, needs more emphasis on vocals and deep voices. Highs are good, coming from small speakers you would expect them to be good and they are.
CONSTRUCTION: perfect, cant say much, they have a volume knob and not push buttons unlike the Logitech S150 USB speakers, they're a little taller than a soda can, approximately 6 1/4" tall, and about 2 1/2" wide, they do offer a headphone jack also, and are magnetically shielded (means that devices such as a cell phone will not interfere and cause static in the speakers, this happens cause the cell phone "tries" to use the wire going into each speaker as a antenna and will cause static interference) (the Altec Lansing VS2421 are not magnetically shielded by the way, so i have experienced the static with those speakers). The speakers have a metal grill with tiny holes in them, they enclosure or housing is made of plastic.
OVERALL: great speakers i don't know other 10-15$ speakers that could be these (so far, I'm always buying speakers lol. They're great for a desktop, if you dont want to spend the money and get a 2.1 system, they are very clear also. One more thing, sometimes i would leave them playing for like 3hours and the bottoms of each speaker seems to get "warm" not hot, but I'm letting you know in case of anything.. And when i have the volume turned up past 80% the power light (orange color located on the front of the speaker with the volume knob and headphone jack) will begin to dim and brighten, assuming this happens due to the power assumption at higher volumes. And when i said past 80%, i do care about all of my equipment, so i would only play it that loud if it does not distort and sometimes it doesn't, so don't think that i go around ruining my speakers - not saying you did, just saying LOL. I do not regret buying them either.
