Top customer reviews
1- They wont stay standing up. As in they are very easy to tip over. They are tall and skinny, I presume its to save desktop or tabletop space. But it makes them top heavy and easy to overbalance and fall over.
2- They are kinda under powered. But, for their size, they still put out some pretty good sound. They may not be Boom Box quality but they are still fairly good for their size.
On the PLUS side-
1- There's only one wire to mess with! The other speakers I tried had two wires, one to the USB for power and the other to the headphone or speaker jack. And another one had power transformer that had to be plugged into the power strip. And that extra 3' to 6' of wire is a hassle to mess with when I'm using my laptop on a fold up table.
2- Really pretty good sound for their size. Not a whole lot of volume but they are loud enough that you know its not those wimpy speaker things that came with your laptop.
I've had these for about 6 months or so and they are still hanging in there. Over all, for the money vs. their size they are a pretty good deal. If you want more sound you will need to go to a full surround sound system or patch your laptop into your stereo's auxiliary and run your sound through that. Which, if you got the stereo with a auxiliary input, for the price of these speakers you could get the patch wire to connect your computer to the stereo. That's the only way I can think of that you can get more and better sound out of your laptop for the same amount of money as these speaker cost. Get these speakers, its a lot easier.
Setting them up was fast and easy - just plug them in and the computer found them in a few seconds and installed a driver (there's no disc included). Turned up the volume and everything was great.
The only thing I would improve is to change the volume control to a knob you can turn instead of buttons, but since these are digital (being USB), that would be more difficult to engineer and would increase the cost.
P.S. Since these are USB speakers, your computer does NOT need a sound card or equivalent for these speakers to work. All it needs is an available USB port.
These are perfectly fine for my current purpose (broadcasting Skype calls), but I wouldn't make them my primary speakers for listening to music.
