I like that they are USB and don't need a separate source of power - saves space on the power strip. I like that they are small and don't take up extra space on my desk that is already shared by two monitors and two keyboards and two mouse pads. My desktops are both rather old and outdated, both use XP, and when I plugged the speakers in my computer warned me that there was a problem with the hardware installation and I might have problems with the hardware. But I didn't, so I took the chance and bought a second pair for the other desktop. Then I got problems. The second pair of speakers would only work for a few minutes, then stop working. I tried them on the other computer and they were fine. Eventually, I just switched the speakers around and got them both working, even though my computer still warned me about a problem with the hardware installation.
I note that many people have trouble getting them to work, and it may be that they just don't work on some systems as well which is why I say, if you get them to work, these are okay and actually very nice little speakers for the money.
The cords are very thin though so watch out.
