The new Logitech S-220 Speaker System contains several upgrades to its predecessor, the S-200 Speaker System. Unlike the S-200, the new S-220 encompasses increased usability with a newly styled control base to manage improved acoustics, volume and VoIP connectivity. Bass tuning by the end user is often permanent once a setting is established. With the end-user experience at the forefront of Logitech's design strategy to minimize desk clutter the S-220 bass control is located directly on the subwoofer. This allows the end user to tune the speaker system with no concerns for any accidental control adjustments. Finally, the newly designed S-220 advantages improved acoustics for a smoother, rich experience to enjoy music, VoIP discussions or playing video games. What's in the box: Logitech S-220 Speaker System, Subwoofer, 2 x Satellite Speakers, Wired Remote Control, All Necessary Cables, Setup Guide and 3-year Manufacturer's Warranty

And there you have it, these are amazing speakers. =D
For the price, these are hard to beat. They are very straight forward to set up and use. The control pod for volume has a headphone(out) jack as well as a mic(in) jack. I have never used the mic(in) but the out has saved me multiple times.
The only complaint I would have is the sub woofer is relatively quiet compared to other units. I have the sub volume maxed and it still lacks the punch I like to have. It is possible over the 4 years the sub's ability to output bass has diminished, I can't remember if it was always like this. This is not a defcon-5 complaint, the entire system was under $30, so any gripes with the sound quality is easily justified by the price point.
Highly recommended for someone looking for an all-in-one PC/gaming sound set-up on a budget.
CYBER ACOUSTICS CA-3090
ALTEC LANSING BXR1221
After seeing the specs, decide what is important to you. I haven't heard the Altec Lansings nor the Creatives, but having read reviews they are bass heavy. The Bass can be adjusted through an EQ, yet I always liked having control of the Bass on the Unit, as it seems to give more control than an EQ to balance out the sound. The Altec Lansings and Creatives both dont have a wired remote and they are lower in power at 9Watts. The Cyber Acoutics are a waste of money. The dont even come close to the sound of the Logitech. To be fair, they are OK, I have a pair, but it doesnt make sense to spend more, (they are 27bucks) when the Logitechs sound better. Finally on to the Logitechs. I was impressed by the sound of the Logitechs for the 20dollar price point. Bass is comfortable, you should turn it up to about halfway to start getting some low end. These aren't going to shake the pictures off of walls, its only a 4inch sub. Highs are decent, above average, but they can be a little bright. Depending on your source, you can adjust this, but the good news is that they arent shrill like a tin can. The Mids are average, but sound is more than adequate when you look at the size of the satelite speakers. They feel like they only weigh a pound so the speaker contained inside (sorry you cannot remove the cloth grill) has to be tiny. Remember, the source you are going to run these with is the most important. I tried different ways including my MP3 Player, Computer, and TV and got different results. If you dont have an imput on your MP3 player, and only a headphone jack, you will be disspointed with the sound when you plug these in. You will need a Headphone Amp or you will get no power. On the PC, they shine the best. You have to play with your sound settings depending on your PC. My suggestion, turn the computer volume up to 50 or halfway and use the remote to control the speaker volume. Its a light wheel, so just put a piece of masking tape under it so it sticks to your desk. You will have to play with the EQ as they might not sound so good with no adjustements. They are also great as an upgrade to TV speakers. I use them in a medium sized bedroom. Just plug them into the TV, turn the wheel remote on the Logitechs to halfway, and use your TV volume to control the speakers. Hope this long winded review helps you decide. I say they are an easy choice for people on a budget under thirty dollars. If you want to try the Creatives or Altec's, go for it. I have had speakers from both companies, but not the models I mentioned. Just remember they dont have some of the features as the Logitechs. Stay away from the Cyber's.
I would have paid twice as much and still considered this a bargain. The bass is about as good as you can expect for the price. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how good these little suckers sound. I almost bought the set without the sub, but now I am glad that I didn't. I also really love the little power/volume control dial. It is a separate piece and is very convenient. I attached a piece of velcro to the back and stuck it on the side of my desk. That way you never have to reach around to fool with the volume or to power on and off the speakers. Very clever idea and just the icing on the cake. All things considered, you CANNOT and WILL NOT find a better set of speakers for anywhere near this price.
I couldn't be happier with this purchase!
