That was before, or right about when Logitech had acquired UE. The newly designed SF5 (the now UE 600) and UE 700 were just out. I bought both. The UE700s quickly became my all time favorites.
Now, almost 3 years later. I've had quite a few top-of-the-line IEMs, such as SE535, X10, TF10, EX1000, CK10, MTPC, ER4-PT, etc. I can honestly say that the 700s remain unmatched in terms of comfort, sound, and usability. The fact that the UE700s only cost a fraction of these top universal-fit IEMs only makes them more endearing.
Let's get the bad out of the way first. These used to be some of the more fragile IEMs. However the plug has been redesigned and reinforced, so that may have been fixed. But even if they'd break after 6 month, I'd keep buying them over and over again. And when I have a couple pairs, I'd remold them into super customs. That's how good they are.
Quite understated and standard. Nothing like my Turbine Pro Copper's packaging. However, it's what's inside that matters. Unlike Monster, which includes many tips most of which are completely useless and uncomfortable, and IEMs that sound only slightly better than stock buds, what's included in the UE700's packaging is very good indeed.
Included are two pairs of comply foam tips, and three sets of regular silicon tips. Some booklets. A hard plastic carrying case.Read more ›
Customer service was responsive upon contacted and I arrange to ship the UE700s back and get a replacement set. About 3 weeks later I had them. After 1 month of use, guess what. The exact same failure. This time I tried to just suck it up and be gentle with them as the wire began separating, to no avail. The wire eventually completely separated and now the left ear piece produces about 70% less sound.Read more ›
The UE 700 is a dual-driver design that uses one balanced armature driver to deliver the lows and another to deliver the highs. Using balanced armature drivers instead of a conventional mini-speaker has several advantages. First, the mass of the drivers is much lower, allowing the driver to start and stop vibrating faster, translating into greater detail and accuracy. Second, they're quite efficient; most of the time I have the computer set for the lowest sound level and it's more than adequate. Third, because the armatures are small, the entire housing (even though it's a dual-driver) can be made smaller than many single-driver mini-speaker units. In addition, using a two-way system allows each component (low frequency and high frequency) to act on the sound spectrum that it's tailored for, rather than a single unit trying to produce all frequencies.
As mentioned earlier, these things are quite small - about 5/16" diameter. I don't remember if I had to change out the tips from medium to small to fit my ears but they fit very well. I gave a pair to a friend of mine who has small ear canals and usually has trouble finding earphones that fit; they fit her ears perfectly when using the smallest (XXS) tips. The included kit contains six pairs of tips so you should be able to get a good fit. The cable is also very thin and flexible, allowing it to coil up compactly when you want to store them in the included case. Note that you'll want to treat the cable nicely; don't just wrap it around your iPod or other device - take the time to store it correctly and it'll last a long time.Read more ›

Great design, but these lack bass.
Hard to tell left from right in the dark.
I was disappointed in the sound, especially given the price (>$100)
Its very uncommon, almost unheard of, to not have ipod/iphone controls on a headphone cord. They were definitely never worth the MSRP but at a big discount they are good.Published 17 months ago by leanbeanjean
Two problems... 1st I tried these headphones while running and on more than one occasion the silicone ear cushion stayed in my ear when I removed the earphones. Read morePublished 21 months ago by BuzzKill
