The webcam works well. It's capable of HD video calls and recording which is nice. However no one uses the HD video chatting service that this webcam comes with and many people do not have an internet connection or computer which works well enough to view HD video without a lot of lag. As such it's a great webcam, but it is somewhat impractical for video chatting purposes.

On the other hand it works great for recording HD video so it would be great for someone blogging on YouTube or for recording your face along with your video game stream (which can later be uploaded to YouTube along with the video game recording).

It is basically plug and play, but does come with some additional software which may enhance your overall experience with the device. Personally I find the software dated, but there are some cool features. Such as setting up the camera to follow you while you move about the room and auto-zoom in on you.

A conclusion: People just looking for a webcam to video chat with, would probably be better off going with a cheaper webcam (if money is an issue). This however would be great for streamers/YouTube bloggers. However, I'm going to go ahead and guess that there is something better out there by now.

I have owned my Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 for nearly 5 years now.

It has been many years since I had bought this webcam, a long time ago, just noticing all of my old purchases on amazon that I bought and never reviewed so decided to give some of them long overdue ratings/reviews. This Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 had one good thing about it, the picture quality, recording was great! But it suffered a lot of frustrating issues such as sound/microphone not being recognized or going out during a recording to the camera suddenly disconnecting, thus there goes what could have been a great video. I remember cursing at this thing a lot, while my built in crappy picture quality built in webcam lasted forever. The cord on the back of this Logitech webcam came loose one day, and after that I had to fiddle with it to get it to work and then the usual issues along with it. It wasn't fun and several months after purchasing it I had enough, rage trashed it. And to think, I've owned two Logitech webcam and both had similar problems, great video quality but everything else made them not worth the stress, thus since then have never trusted buying another usb webcam, especially given how much these ones cost, I expected better quality construction and software.

Finally going to give a review, bought this cam in 2011. Still have it and still works in 2017. Pretty much a plug and play, Windows 7 and 10 automatically download and recognize the webcam.

If you use Logitech software, you get some extra features like zoom, animations,etc.

Picture is good, video quality is adequate. Voice is good. For the price (Bought it at the time when HD was just coming out and going maintstream, approx 70USD)

If you do business video conference, this will work.

If you do gaming and need a All in one solution for video and voice chat, this will suffice.

HOWEVER, this webcam like most others does suffer in LOW LIGHT conditions. Just be aware.

Have been using the same webcam for the last 7 years, and it still works as good as the day I bought it. The camera quality is good enough that with a good/bright lighting setup, I sometimes do hobby macro photography with it. The mic comes with the ability/option to automatically adjust so that it can pickup quiet voices or reduce loud voices when doing webchat - which is great for my low-pitched voice. I find the included software controller for the webcam to be finicky sometimes (it doesn't save some of my lens settings, so I have to re-adjust every time I open the controller), but it works and stays in place while its open. And the webcam is reliably detected by my applications, and can be controlled/adjusted by them as well instead of the controller, if they have that option.

I had no problem installing both the software and camera on my Windows 7 computer. All worked fine except it would not focus on anything further than a foot in front of the lens. I could control the focus from very near to near, and if you put an object at about six inches it was very sharp. But at 3 feet the focus was always soft, using auto or manual focus.

So I checked out the Logitech web site and saw the same complaint posted a number of times in the forums. The Logitech moderator simply answered that their cameras are designed for people in front of a computer, not for distance. I guess distance to him is anything over one foot.

But that's baloney if the other reviews are correct. What it means is that the quality control is horrible, and Logitech doesn't really check the products that enter their warehouses before they ship them out.

So you'll take a chance if you order this camera, and probably any other one from Logitech. I chanced it and lost. I'm returning this camera for a cheaper one with fixed focus. What good is a high-quality glass Zeiss lens if it won't focus? Give me good focusing plastic any day!

UPDATE:
I returned this camera and ordered a Logitech C310 the same day. It arrived two days later the installation was easy. When I turned the camera on I was blown away, everything was in focus from about 1.5 feet to infinity. I could read the writing on a poster on the wall 15 feet behind me. The C310 is about 1/3 the price of the C910 and looks much better, and doesn't have a focusing mechanism to fail. My Skype partners ask what I did to get such a clear picture. Also, the C310 is smaller and less noticeable. The only thing I've lost is the ability to do some of the masks and avatars in the effects section. But there are still plenty of effects it will do. Thanks to Amazon for their easy-return policies.
