The Logitech M505 Wireless Mouse is a good mouse, with basic features. This mouse can used equally well by lefties or righties. It can work when used as a plug and play mouse or can be customized using Logitech's SetPoint software. And it runs on two AA batteries that will supposedly run for up to 15 months.

In terms of features, this mouse is sold at a premium to similar models. But the killer feature is the integration with the new "unifying" receiver, which lets you use one nano-sized receiver with multiple Logitech wireless accessories. I'm not sure yet if other vendors like Kensington will also have compatible devices that can be used across brands, but being able to only use one USB plug on my laptop for both my keyboard and mouse has been a great positive for me. I use this unit along with the Logitech K350 2.4Ghz Wireless Keyboard, which is akin to the original Logitech Wave Keyboard in its design.

If they make a version of the Logitech MX 1100 Cordless Laser Mouse that is compatible with the new receiver, I will probably upgrade. Until then, this is the mouse I use on my home machine. Considering the price difference is relatively minimal, the

I bought this for my home theater PC in my living room to go with the keyboard that uses the same Unity receiver. I stuck the receiver into one free frontside USB port on the box and can run both the keyboard and mouse off the same nearly invisible dongle. Both the mouse and the keyboard work from 30 feet away as tested. It even worked from another room. After trying two Microsoft mice which wouldn't work from more than four feet from the dongle, having a mouse which works on anything from carpet to a velvet couch up to 30 feet away with zero lag or glitches, was gratifying. I did have to download a free utility to get the PC to pair the same keyboard dongle with the mouse, but it was stupidly easy to do. I'm probably going to buy several more of these, one to keep in my netbook, the other for my PS3. Rock on Logitech for making a mouse and keyboard which are superb for home theater PC use.

I have had trouble picking a new mouse for some time... I am a graphic artist, so I want the precision of a laser mouse, but I do not like all the extra "web buttons" on the sides where thumb rests - I always click them by mistake. I am very loyal to Logitech, as I really find a lot of comfort in their shape with the "sunken in" side grips. I ended up choosing this mouse and love it! The comfort grips are great! It is not too big, and not too small, kind of an in-between size for most mice. The laser precision works great for all my graphic detail needs! Would highly recommend it! Love it!

I was excited to get a wireless mouse. I got a red one.
Worked fine for about 5 months, then the mouse started it's phantom double click when all was requested was one click.
This is very irritating because you are suddenly having to figure out where did that click take you !! Going back.. Duh... double clicked AGAIN.
Not sure how to fix this. Reviewed peoples options, but no help. Changed the batteries, but that didn't help either. Completely cleaned up the little mouse where the wheel and buttons meet, so debris down in the mouse, that helped a little, but now it is back to double clicking.
May have to try another brand.

I don't really have the inclination to write a complex review about this product. I just want to mention something that has not been mentioned at all, yet. Look at the picture of the black and red product. They both look like a shiny new race car...sleek...aerodynamic...cool. Nice aspects, but not important, in my opinion, for a mouse. My issue is with the shiny part. The mouse buttons are polished plastic. My fingerprint prefers a matt finish for tactile comfort. This shiny finish was so troublesome to my fingerprint that I ended up cutting an adhesive bandage apart, placing it on the mouse buttons. It looks a little strange but my finger's relationship with the mouse has much improved. I think the silver mouse has a matt paint job...probably the one I should have gotten. In any case, good luck with your purchase. Aside from my one minor quibble, this is a great product.

Very sorry to see this product I once considered an excellent bargain slipping into the "cheap but overpriced junk" category! The older models I purchased over a year ago still function, but the "updated" (redesigned using poor quality switches) two I bought more recntly have both failed miserably (reverting to the "switch bounce" mode that you'll see referred to as a 'double-click' problem by other reviewers) While this may seem like a minor issue, it actually renders the mouse unusable - an unexpected double click - as when you are attempting to drag and drop an item, results in a different action, requiring one to "undo" and try again... REPEATEDLY... until you get the desired result, wasting your time. The effect becomes worse over time. As a tech with over 35 yrs experience Iknow of only two causes for this anomaly - one being a chance in the onboard circuit design of its "de-bounce" feature, which literally compensates for the occassional bouncing of its switch contacts when pressed - this is unlikely as there'd normally be no cost savings involved in their manufacture (in fact the opposite would be true) The most likely cause is referred to as "China Syndrome" wherby a greedy supplier attempts to squeeze yet a bit more profit from a popular product by replacing important components with cheaper and shoddier ones - in this case, the crucial "microswitches used for the left and right click buttons....Unfortunately, this attitude places all of Logitech's products in question as far as I'm concerned and I can nolonger consider the company worthy of my trust.... Too bad, but this seems to be "business as usual" on current Chinese product lines....
