BBR also includes a booklet with extensive liner notes. This cd is a true testament to the gifted Loleatta Hollaway and I hope BBR sees fit to release more of her classic albums. She had a voice truly meant to live on. Purchase this for HIT AND RUN and WORN OUT BROKEN HEART alone. Highly recommended.
As at home as Loleatta Holloway is on up tempo dance grooves, Holloway’s vocal brilliance shines best when she slows down the pace. “Worn Out Broken Heart” and “What Now” are both striking R&B ballads on which Holloway displays her gospel infused raw, aching vocals to a heart breaking effect. “Is It Just A Man’s Way?” is another slow jam in which Holloway’s voice is her greatest instrument and her show case. The three ballads on this album will stay with you long after you play them.
Big Thanks to Big Break Records for re-mastering this masterpiece.Read more ›
Big Break Records have added essential bonus material to this reissue, making it a critical purchase, and as usual, the sound quality and liner notes could not be bettered. Once again, this CD could NOT be bettered!
I met Loleatta after her outrageous stage show at a popular London club. During Love Sensation, the bubbly singer dropped to her knees and subjected her microphone to simulated fellatio. Not at all what I was expecting from the former gospel singer...but it went down well (!) with the mostly gay audience. The gorgeous lady was kind enough to autograph my records (including the original of this one) and gave me the biggest kiss, ever! A moment I will appreciate for a lifetime.
Loleatta was a hit vocal sensation, and a truly special human being, too. With abilities that will never be surpassed, this incredible CD is a poignant reminder of her talent, but also of our sadness that she is no longer physically here. RIP and love, sweet lady. xxx
