I didn't figure I could go wrong after seeing the 29 reviews with an average of 4.5 stars. And it did not disappoint.
I have only tried it on in the house at this point but it felt very warm for it's light weight. The free scarf that comes with it is a nice touch and adds some sophistication and contrast. The pockets seem to be just fine and some extra buttons were in a small zip lock bag in the inside breast pocket.
For some size help I am 5-9 1/2 at about 209 lbs. as I've added a little late life size around the middle if you know what I mean. But I normally wear large button up shirts and XL t-shirts. And this coat in a large could hardly fit better, surely the Medium would be too small. The sleeves are just about perfect in length, but any longer and they would be too long.
Without a doubt my first impressions were great. I can't imagine anyone disliking this coat if after they've gone to the point of reading these reviews, they had it delivered.
If you are on the fence... don't be!!
I will try to return and provide further analyses on everyday warmth, wear and comfort in the near future.
The coat is extremely well made. Not surprising as London Fog has been a well respected name in the industry for a long time. The thing I really love about the coat is that it is fancy enough to wear with dress clothes but it is not so fancy that it can't be worn with a nice pair of jeans also. The bad thing is, I am so protective of it right now that I don't want to wear it to places that don't have a place to hang the coat for fear that it might get dirty. I'm guessing this will pass in a few weeks. The darker color (I ordered the charcoal) should keep it looking great and I'm guessing only 1 or 2 dry cleans a season.
If you are looking for something solely for your really dressy attire then you may want to look for a full length wool coat or a double breasted pea coat. If you are looking for something that goes with everything and looks extremely classy without looking pretentious..this is it.
The material is good. I can confirm that both the coat and the scarf is very linty, so it's a good idea to run a lint remover over them before wearing. My coat had a few excess stitching sticking out in places that you may trim off with scissors. The inner lining is kind of like the silk material that is often used in other coats. The outer material is not the thickest, but is thick enough to keep most of the wind out.
Overall, this is a great coat (for its price) and apparently my friends seem to agree!
I am 6,3 and 265 pounds so I am not skinny but I wouldn't say fat either just a big guy the coat is actually a bit big around the waist but luckily I wont need to wear a jumper or anything underneath it does not get that cold over here its mainly for when I travel to the colder parts of the country
who knows once it gets wet it might stretch a bit but I don't see the sleeve lengths getting any longer LOL
