The coat is comfortable and fits true-to-size. The fabric has a texture almost like denim that is not apparent in the photos. (This is not to say the fabric is as heavy or thick as denim. But, the fabric is not completely smooth.) That said, it's a nice-looking and perfectly functional coat that goes with a suit or with jeans.

Kept its shape well despite shipping rolled up in a plastic bag - looked fresh out of the bag. Size seems appropriate - I can wear a sportcoat under it or not and it fits well in the shoulders. I bought same size as I buy my sportcoats. I will probably get the sleeves shortened and the length shortened a little as I bought a Regular when I should have ordered a Short - but only Regular was available. Now, about the fabric - as others noted, the finish is sort of like a denim, with a fine almost-corduroy-like pattern with very fine peach-fuzz nap to it. Although that makes a sort of trendy velvety-velour-type look it also grabs and holds every bit of dust, dandruff, etc. I was upgrading from a battered black raincoat but this coat immediately looked like it needed to be cleaned after an hour of wear. Nevertheless, it is in fact about 20 years newer than my old thrift-shop Exorcist raincoat and has a 21st century-style collar and probably from a little distance looks a bit more spiffy than my old raincoat. But if I had to do it over again I'd get a hard-finished 50/50 cotton/poly type raincoat with a removable liner. Oh yes this coat has a very nice warm liner - probably good to 20 degrees F with a sportcoat and a scarf.

Update - in the second winter of use I love this coat more and more. It looks great and classy even with jeans and a cashmere sweater - and will handle down to zero degrees F with the liner zipped in and a cashmere sweater and a scarf underneath. I had the sleeves shortened but left the length alone. My low-cost substitute for a full-length wool topcoat.

The coat was okay a little large, but not bad when worn over a suit or sport coat. Color is closer to grey than black. When I went to take it off on the first wearing, the bottom button fell off. The string holding the buttons on is not tied off, just wrapped and had unraveled allowing the button to drop off. All the buttons were attached the same way. I made it home without losing any more buttons. I got out the sewing kit and reattached the one that fell off and reinforced the others.

Awesome coat, incredibly soft material and a warm zip out liner. I usually wear a 40 or 42 jacket and had to return the 42 coat I ordered because it was huge. Ordered a 38 replacement and its perfect.

There is nothing remotely fancy about the style of the jacket but that is a good thing. No belts or buckles or flaps. I hate all of that stuff! The fit is not the cruddy oversized fit that you see in your typical men's trench coat. It is almost car coat length and definitely shorter than a trench. The zip out is OK for Fall but I am pretty sure it wont be warm enough for a NYC winter; hence the 4 stars. With the lining out, it is basically perfect for 3 seasons. The shoulders fit as expected per your suit size but the overall fit is a bit slim.

This is a top-quality coat. If you like London Fog, you'll love it. I bought this as a Lighting Deal for $80 outside the season for it simply because it was such a great deal, so I really haven't had a chance to use it. It has a removable liner, and feels like it will be warm. My one complaint is that even at a 48, which I thought would give me a lot of room, it is a tight fit.

The coat arrived on the specified date. I thought it was going to fit a little too large, but it fits perfectly. Macy's.com had the same coat (that's where I saw it first) for $30 less, however, it was not in stock. So I shopped Amazon.com because 99% of the time they always have any and everything in stock.

It fits well, it is warm and looks sharp. The material is soft but it is coarser that I suppose I would prefer. Also uses buttons, not a zipper in the front. In any case, other reviews indicated these things. I like it and would buy it again.
