- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2014As a lone twin for 50 years, I nonetheless felt comforted and very able to relate to several things that I had thought only related to me and my experience. The need to make sure that one's parents know that you are doing well appears common as is the repetition of the fear of loss later in life. My twin died in a car crash our freshman year in college and when my daughter left home to go to college, I was nearly paralyzed with the fear that I would never see her again. I wish that this book had been available to me earlier.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 2012I read this book almost 7 years after my twin brother passed away in a high school football accident and I wish someone would have showed me this book sooner. It was amazing to see that people were feeling exactly how I was feeling just after losing a twin and many years after. It made me understand why I might feel the way I do and why sometime I could have everything in the world and still feel alone in my heart. I think it is a must read for twins that have lost their other half.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2016Having lost my twin sister at 31 years old on Nov. 13, 2015, this book has helped me in so many ways. Losing your other half is something most people have never been through, therefore there aren't many people to talk to who really understand that bond. This book is my saving grace for the harder days of grieving. I encourage all twinless twins to purchase this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2017Finally someone who understands how we feel, and she researched others who are just like us. Then you add her emotional education to explain why we feel this way. She talks about groups that meet together for support that lost their twin in the UK, to bad none in the US.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2018Sadly, I am a Lone Twin. This book is a helpful, realistic, read for those that have lost a twin AND for anyone that wishes to understand just a fraction of what “Lone Twins” suffer with the loss of a twin.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2018Like the validation of feelings for the surviving twin
- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2018Got it as a give for a friend that lost His Twin Brother.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2018There are poems in here. Super unhelpful in general.

NancyReviewed in Canada on October 13, 20165.0 out of 5 stars A must read when you have lost your twin
This book was recommended to me by a pastor right after the death of my twin brother. It breaks down loss of a twin at 3 different stages of life; birth (or in utero), childhood, adulthood. There are many examples of people who have gone through loss. The book is definitely worthwhile to help put things into perspective and let you understand what you are feeling during the grieving period. There is a website to go along with the book and the ability to join and connect with other people in similar circumstances.

YodaReviewed in Germany on September 25, 20145.0 out of 5 stars Sehr hilfreich!

This book was recomended to me. I lost my identical twin recently and found this very helpful.
It is good to be able to interact with other people in the same position.

What a wonderful book! Joan Woodward gives such an excellent description of why the lone twins feel the way they do, and empathy, even love untoward them all. A very uplifting book.
