From Library Journal
Historian and journalist Katz has written a lengthy and detailed life of Jabotinsky (1880-1940), an outstanding and controversial figure in the Zionist movement of the 1920s and 1930s. He was a leader of Revisionism, which opposed the policies of the mainstream Zionist group led by Chaim Weitzman and David Ben-Gurion, later to become president and prime minister, respectively, of the state of Israel. Jabotinsky was also a prolific journalist, novelist, poet, and linguist, and Katz treats these aspects of Jabotinsky's work fully. This attempt at completeness often obscures the main thrust of Jabotinsky's efforts?the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine. Although Katz avows a determination to be fair to Jabotinsky's contemporary critics and opponents, this is clearly the work of an ardent admirer. Recommended for academic libraries with large collections on Zionism and the state of Israel.?Harry Frumerman, formerly with Hunter Coll., CUNY

This book is for who want to get to the source of history and enjoy details as it includes parts of his many speeches, articles written and letters. I find the book interesting and relish the extent of the detail which produces a book set (Books One and Two) of 1680 pages. These books also include historical photos.
This book also educates the reader not only of the aspirations and history of Zionism, but also the factions that were of several important camps. Those who had the Jewish ghetto mentality who did not believe that they could rely on themselves and proved timid and noneffective such as Chaim Weitzman who was the great appeaser to anti Semitic British officials, those who were hard core socialist idealists who believed in class warfare struggle such as Ben Gurion and those unapologetic, proud Jews who did not fear speaking up publicly against injustice and defending themselves from pogroms form the Russian government, Polish or Arabs. Also this book details the British illegal stripping away of the majority of the Palestinian of the mandate of the Jews (Jordan, Golan Heights and modern Lebanon south of the Litani river), the encouragement and incitement of Arab radicals to massacre and loot Palestinian Jews and the prevention of Jews to legally defend themselves when the British would not do the job and there pressure of the King of Jordan to prevent Jewish farmers emigrating into Jordan ort purchasing lands there.
The book is a must read.
