In its strong third season, NCIS-Los Angeles continues to capitalize on its excellent cast, as the NCIS LA-based Office of Special Projects conducts undercover operations against terrorists, spies, arms-dealers, transnational criminals and other threats to the Department of the Navy.

Linda Hunt returns as diminutive and mysterious Operations Manager Hetty Lange, who continues to overawe the agents each week. The original superb buddy team of Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J as agents G. Callen and Sam Hanna is joined by a second field team, consisting of Agent Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) and LAPD detective Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen), who are still working on their often hilarious love-hate relationship. Computer geeks Eric Beale (Barrett Foa) and Nell Jones (Renee Smith) form a third team. The mysterious Nell seems to have an additional hush-hush role as cat's paw for Hetty, and will materialize on at least one mission brandishing a firearm with unexpected skill.

The season opens with the thrilling conclusion to last season's cliffhanger, which had the team on an unauthorized rescue mission in Romania. The four field agents will attempt to storm a criminal gang's headquarters to rescue Hetty. In the process, they will have to cope with the manipulations of secretive acting Operations Manager Lauren Hunter (Claire Forlani in a recurring role), who seems to have her own agenda. The fallout of the mission will include, at long last, some shocking insights into the unknown past of Agent Callen, including unsuspected ties to Hetty. An extended story arc in mid-season will feature a visitation by a sinster assistant director from headquarters, whose purpose will only slowly be revealed, and it won't be good for the team, especially Kensi.

The third season is another winner. Daniela Rua really shines as Kensi in this season especially in the two-part episode K Blye. The truth surrounding the death of Kensi's father comes out in these two episodes and it was refreshing to see Marty Deeks serious for once in trying to help Kensi cope. I see a faint stirring of romance between these two and I'm wondering how many seasons it will take for Kensi and Deeks to acknowledge what they feel for one another.

I believe my favorite episode is Neighborhood Watch, where Marty and Kensi go undercover as a newlywed couple in a neighborhood, trying to discover a hidden spy cell. Funny and yet serious. I highly recommend this third season for all NCIS fans.

Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J are great as well. These actors on this show are the best, especially Linda Hunt at Hetty.

I purchased season 1-3 for my mother for her birthday. She loves them. I had not watched the show before but since she has it on when I go see her I now have started watching it also. The DVDs came perfectly packaged and in great condition. Could not have asked for better.

I'm giving this 4 stars all because of LL and Chris. If this was a buddy cop show with just the two of them and Linda Hunt it would be perfect. Eric Christian Olsen is also good as comedy relief. Those are the highlights. The down sides, they don't really write good options for Daniela Ruah. She sort of gets the story line shaft. Barrett Foa and Renee FElice SMith are sort of shoe horned in when they need some "technical" stuff instead of making them part of the team. I hope it gets a lot better because I love the buddy relationship between LL and Chris.

I'm a HUGE NCIS fan, but just cannot buy in to NCIS: LA. Not sure if its the acting or the "missions", it just doesn't seem fitting. I purchased the episoide when Hawaii Five-0 comes to the main land to catch a criminal. Great episode, just still can't get into the NCIS LA series

I enjoy this show, especially the banter between Callan & Hanna. It was also nice to see Christopher Lambert although he played the villain. He was one of my favorite Tarzans & played the part closest to Edgar Rice Burrough's books. Plus, he speaks French. It was an interesting cliffhanger though we know that Callan didn't really kill him.

So as much as I love the show, I have to give this set a 1 star review. I got two different versions of this set 1 from amazon and 1 from Best Buy. Both sets the video quality was absolutely awful. You could see pixels everywhere, and the colors were over-saturated. Poor LL Cool J looked like a red muppet version of himself. I don't understand what happened here. I own all of the NCIS seasons and the first 2 NCIS: LA seasons and have never had an issues. I tested both of these sets on 2 different tv's 2 different bluray playeers and a dvd player, all with the same issue. And have no other issues with any other dvd I try. Was very disappointed. I have also noticed that Best Buy no longer carries this set and cannot order it. They checked when I returned my copy. It is also not available at Wal-Mart or Target either. Which leaves me to believe that they have found this defect as well and will not carry it. So potential buyers beware. For now I will have a hole in my collection while I wait for a good release of this set
