This book is really useful. It has a wide array of phrases that you may need when travelling. I did notice that the English is UK English and not American English. It's still just as useful for Americans but a few of the words may cause confusion. I would still recommend it for Americans.

This little book was wonderful for our trip to Mexico. I did go through it in advance and put in tabs for fast reference (food, hotels, etc) but it was still easy to carry in my purse. The phrase section covered most things, but we also used the dictionary part to look for a specific word, either to learn what to say or to find out what a printed word meant. I would highly recommend it for anyone going to Mexico with just a few words of Spanish. I don't know what we'd have done without it.

After 30 days in Mexico, with the phrasebook in my pocket whereever we went, I can say that out of every 100 words for which I searched for a meaning I may at best have found 5 in the book. It became a frustration.
The format and advertised content seemed very comprehensive. My experience was: not very practical. As a sidenote. There were lots of good questions/statements and phrases to be used in variuos situations. My problem was, I could in no way understand the answers given by the spanish speaking locals. Solution: we told the spanish speaking people we met that we did not speak spanish and they beame incredible helpful. We did not always get what we thought we ordered, but that was part of the fun.
The Mexican people are wonderful, helpful, and a delight to be with, from the hardworking local construction workers to bank functionaries, merchants, etc. I will be better prepared next time with a pocket size, but more comprehensive, conventional dictionary—

Very compact size so it is easy to carry along. Contains the essentials for travel and common situations . Entries are color coded making it easy to find the particular situation you want. The book also gives cultural tips. It's a great little book for most situations one would encounter while in Mexico.

I'm dating a native Mexican. He says that a lot of what's called "local" in this book is wrong. In addition, many of the phrases, he's never heard spoken that way. For general purposes, it has all the pieces you need to know if you're a beginner. I'm not, but it's great for that one word that won't come to mind. It's compact and broken down into relevant sections which makes it easy to bone up on all the content from one venue (Eating/restaurant, accommodations, transportation (car, bus, rail, plane), etc.), which I find logical and useful.

The book is the perfect size for your hand and nice and compact. What is great about the book is that it is broken down into specific sections so you can quickly jump to the right situation. Pretty good book but I wish the dictionary in the back was a bit more extensive, but then that would mean a bigger book!

The book is small and well organized making it rather handy for help with Spanish while traveling. I was please to see a brief section on Mayan language (although I would have liked to have seen more as I plan to visit the Yucatan) but disappointed that no pronunciation key was given--the few phrases presented may be of little use without one. I have not put it to the actual test yet...

Purchased this book before a trip to Mexico. Read it on the plane flight down. Used only a few phrases during our trip, but contribute my newfound comfort with Spanish pronunciation on its easy-to-read translations. Would highly recommend purchasing well before a trip and becoming more familiar with phrases. Also, fits very well in a small purse or pocket, so it can easily be a language security blanket as needed!
