Of particular interest was the section on Shoshone Point. While in the Village I asked a Park Ranger about this attaction and he said, "we really don't promote this location, but since you asked, it is one of my favorite viewing points at either sunrise or sunset." After hiking the approximate one mile from the parking area to the point we were not disappointed. We also witnessed a Native American wedding (with Shama, tom-tom and all) at the point, which was frosting on the cake. Great suggestion.
Regardless what guide you use and I don't think you can wrong with the Lonely Planet publication, be prepared. Grand Canyon is a vast area and most of us only have a limited amount of time to make the most of our visits.
