Format: Audio CD
I already loved 'em when they were the Sidehill Gougers, but never guessed that they were just learning their stuff while being their own opening act. This record is main-event heavy, songs that tackle the mist of pills & drink, the pain of loss, and the weight of history both fabled ("John Henry") and painfully real (a bunch of disenfranchised tribal types in "Everybody Knows"). Plus there's a sonic adventurousness to it that kicks the wheels out from under the O Brother wagon, and the world's a better place for it.

The Gougers are one of the best bands in Texas. Their songwriting, musicianship, and harmonies are all top-notch. You can't go wrong with this CD. Go see them live if they're ever in your area!! You won't be disappointed!

Love this album. Got a chance to see The Gougers in Challis Idaho at the Braun Brothers Reunion and cannot wait to see them again. The vocals are extremely crisp and the sound is very unique. Buy this album.

This album is worth a listen if only to hear the awesome voice of Jamie Wilson. Well written songs with a slightly dark, but very personal and real tone.
