Secondly, this is practically the only place you can find the quirky gems of Los Angeles-based musician, GUS (aside from his cover of Don't Fear the Reaper on the original Scream soundtrack).
Thirdly, the credit-roll song, "Woman" is a stunner; a sort of neo-Bond song soaked in the blues.
And finally, the rest of this disc is an ecclectic tribute to the blues. It is top-notch, top-drawer, the best, the apex!
This is a review of this actual rather incomplete release of the soundtrack not the full wonderful 5 star soundtrack.
1. It's missing loads of tracks!
1). Elvis Presley - Santa Claus is Back in Town
2). Dion - Rocking Around the Christmas Tree
3). Dean Martin - Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!
4). Dan Seals & John Ford Coley - I'd Really Love to See You Tonight (The Linen Song!!)
5). Marvin Gaye & Tammy Terrell - If I Could Build My World Around You
6). John Williams - The Long Goodbye theme
7. Tracy Bonham - Free
2. The version of Many Rivers to Cross on the album isn't even the version from the movie. On the soundtrack we have a cover by The Tom Tom Club. It was Jimmy Cliff's version in the movie.
3. As well as missing songs on the album there even appears to be a song that as far as I'm aware isn't even in the movie. It's not listed in the credits at the end of the film. - Bring it On Home to Me. - Otis Redding and Carla Thomas.
4. We have the main title theme where's the rest of Alan Silvestri's wonderful score from this movie? I'd gladly pay for a separate CD if necessary but after 19 years it's still not available!!
For more of their genre-bending, check out their zydeco turn on 2004's romping compilation "Creole Bred," singing "Only the Strong Survive."
Actually both albums rarely leave my cd player! Put them on for a rootsy tribute to southern blues!
Anyway, I'm getting this for the song the Jars have on here, "The Chair". It's one of their very best, ironically.
The rest of the soundtrack seems really solid, too! (Thus the five stars) I guess no one will ever look at this anyway, though, so it doesn't much matter what I say. :-)

While the soundtrack was what I expected, it is a shame that there were other songs that were left off, i.e. not the complete soundtrack.Published 1 month ago by Mark E. Herriott
I am pissed. I ordered the movie not the soundtrack. I am very dissappointed!Published 21 months ago by Robert Pitser
This was an odd movie. The clothing were perfect for the time. I mostly wanted to listen to the music again in my car going to work.Published on February 3, 2013 by ROBERT D HYLANDER MD
Music is great and the acting with Jackson and Davis are a perfect pair.
Exciting, but a little to violent for kids to watch
The lyrics go "I'm not talkin bout movin in, and I don't want to change your life, but there a warm wind blowin, the stars are out and I'd really like to see you tonight" which is... Read morePublished on May 21, 2011 by Tommy Davis
Strangely, I love this movie. Davis and Jackson are excellent. Yes, a little over the top at the end but almost believable. Oh, I'm supposed to review the soundtrack. Read morePublished on August 13, 2008 by T. J. Perkins
