Decent book but not a great book - I say this is because I've read the Stephen Ambrose book about D-Day and found it to be absolutely great, so in comparison, this book comes up just a little short - also for such an amazingly important day with so much action and so many stories, I found the book to be really short in length. Buy it, but don't spend too much on it, and don't get your expectations too high here.....

Good book, but be careful this is a very large desk-top version.

Has some interesting points and gives a good overview of D-Day, however it is a shallow review and surprisingly short. I had expected a much more in-depth view of the events and events leading to the invasion.

Great read, very fast and excellent story telling.
For an epic long day I thought the book a little short.
I felt as though I prepared for a three hour movie and was let out after an hour and a half.

Reads a bit on the slow side. Compared with, "the Guns of August," well there is no comparison. The later is wonderfull, this is dull.

I found he book disjointed and hard to get grasp on where events took place. Would have preferred maps to follow along the sequence.

I'm sure for an historian of WWII, this is an amazing resource, but I am not. There were so many characters and it kind of flipped back and forth, so that I never knew where he was talking about. He lost me about 1/3 of the way into the book. I feel guilty not finishing, but I think I'll see the movie instead. As I said - I feel certain someone else with a little more interest or knowledge would find this a wonderful book and give it 5 stars!

Too many personal interviews and not enough of historical commentary

This very used paperback is not what I expected. I paid $8.87 and expected a modern paperback edition (approximately 5-1/2 inches by 8 inches). Instead this edition is 4" x 7" and the print is so small, it is hard to read. This copy originally cost 60 cents, so the seller made an almost 800% profit. Not bad. Thank goodness for magnifying glasses.
