A Collection of Contemporary M/M Stories
Overall Star Rating: 3.5-4/5, Listing as 3 Stars.
Each book has been individually Rated & Reviewed.
No Excessive Spoilers, due to the Stories being so short, it will be more of a...reaction review?
Story 1: Hemlock & Thorns by J.J. Riley & Suki Gale
Relationship Type: MM
Even though is a pretty short read, I did like it very much.
Story 2: Love Song by Tiegan Clyne
Sadly I couldn’t even get into this one, there’s just so much talking and too many characters to remember that I was losing focus as I read.
Story 3: Reclaiming His Brogrammer: A Bro Jobs Story by Kinkaid Knight
I think this would’ve served better if this story was focused on the past POV then the next story could focus on present day. Since this is short, It would’ve kept my attention that way, and make me want to read more.
Story 5: Two for Interference by Joanne Ganci
Cliffhanger(?): No, but yes? HFN.
The beginning of this story is not refreshing, it was a bit off putting to be honest. It’s an ok read.
Story 6: Begin Again by Helena Novak
I am absolutely fascinated with this book, I look forward to reading the full length version! I would be glad to read more from this author.
Story 7: Kissing Mr. Perfect by Bee Murray & C.J. Vincent
Cliffhanger(?): No, but yes? HFN.
I gotta be honest I wasn’t sure how I liked the fast forwarding in time sequences, but I get it cause they’re compensating for it being a short read. This was enjoyable read, loved the heat!
Story 8: Breaking Free: A Bidsum Club Romance by Charlotte Brice
Wow just wow...
While the heated scenes were decent to ok.
I LOVE BDSM books and this to me as a whole felt like a cheapened version of the lifestyle, it just didn’t feel serious.
Some people already view the lifestyle in a negative light, and this book didn’t help matters.
I just couldn’t take to the main characters, I could not for the life of me like Callum, and the relationship building in this just didn’t seem convincing as well.
Story 9: Focal Point by Aspen Black
It’s a HFN, and looks like its going to pick up in their own book.
This is an ok read, I feel like the storyline should’ve focused more on the both of them in this anthology.
Story 10: That Thin Line by Sariah Skye
The synopsis is confusing but I found it intriguing, I eagerly jumped right in.
The rating would’ve been much higher, but I did find some things being a bit repetitive, it’s not as good as I was expecting, some things in the book were a bit weak in reasoning and had me go “...Really?”
It’s a HFN for now, an extended version of That Thin Line will come later in the year.
Story 11: Mr. Perfect by Adora Crooks
This was a really good story, but it was so short I wish there was more!
Story 12: Mr. Mystery: A Heartbelt Records Short Story by Logan Great
Cliffhanger(?): I’m Entirely sure, I think so?
I’ve never read this author before and I look forward to in the future, interesting read, loved the heat.
Story 13: Catching Kalen by Maya Nicole & Britt Andrews
Cliffhanger(?): Yes, Full Length Coming Later this year.
Really liked this one a lot and loved the heat in here as well!
I loved “Reclaiming his Brogrammer” a wonderful love story. The characters were both awesome in their own way and the book has many great supporting men. Rex is still pinning over his college sweatheart (Billy) who left him to pursue his professional football career and to fulfill family expectations of getting married and having kids. As a result of this, Rex has great friends, but has become almost a recluse. Billy on the other hand has decided he messed up and wants to correct things by getting back with Rex. Throw in an awesome grandmother and let the fun begin. I also appreciated the realism..i.e. masks, use of Zoom to connect with friends. With so many men in this book, I hope this becomes a series and each man gets his own book. The opening with all of them on Zoom was a great way to start and made me want to know more about them all.
“Two for Interference” was one of my other favorites. It is about Kylan, a hockey player who is quite full of himself, and Elliott, a sweet dorky farm boy who is happy to be starting a new life at college. I loved the opening scene where Eilliott thought he was confronting one type of situation only to discover that things are often not what they appear. I loved Kylan’s comfortableness with being gay and loved him watching prove is love to a skeptical Elliott. It was also fun watching Elliot give into his hear, but you just know there are secrets he is hiding under that shirt that left me wanting more more more. The author says this will soon be a full fledge book and I will be first in line to read it. This one made my heart swoon. I did receive an ARC and leave this honest review.
I received an ARC from the GRR Team and voluntarily read it for an honest review
