About the author

I’m Patrice and some people call me the thrift shopping queen and others call me a savvy shopper. I just call myself a woman who refuses to pay retail for anything, ever!
As a New York City-based writer who’s worked at top fashion magazines for 7+years, I created Looking Fly on a Dime® for the woman who looks to magazines and celebs for inspiration but has a real life budget and more importantly, the desire to craft her individual sense of style.
From thrift shopping strategies to styling advice and ways to navigate any store like a pro, I believe fashion shouldn’t just be affordable, but also accessible for women of all shapes and lifestyles. And because I’m a naturally thrifty person, I love sharing my tips and tricks with women who share my philosophy that “your style is never determined by your wallet.”
I have appeared on the Today Show, Nate Berkus Show, WE tv and numerous local programs where I share my top fashion tips.

However, I highly recommend this book. I think it’s of more use now than when it was published. With so making working from home and making their living outside a traditional office, you can experiment more with your style and you don’t have the dress code police on your case every day.
For those who don’t know, you can always find things new with tags, something to give as a gift from the accessories, books and sporting goods section or just a cool T-shirt to frame that makes you happy.
Beautifully photographed shots. She is showing ladies how to look fabulous , without breaking the bank. I have downloaded her book to my iPad, and it will be my thrifty shopping guide as I fumble my way around New York. With this book as my guide, I am sure to find some really, cool and hip thrifting spots. Hope everyone else has enjoyed it as much as I have, Happy Shopping!
I learned a lot just about shopping in general and what it takes to put together a fun outfit.
There are some handy tips inside, but overall no real "new" information.
It was inspiring and did make me really excited to run out and go thrift shopping!
