Editorial Reviews

On his new CD - `Looking Out Looking In', Simon Townshend proves to be a talented, passionate musician and performer apart from his normal touring and musical relationship with The Who. This new CD is a strikingly original contribution with songs that quickly become addictive.

The brilliant musical combination of Simon, Tony Lowe, and Ben Townshend, is organic and warm, with Simon contributing vocals, electric and acoustic guitar and mandolin; Tony playing blistering lead guitar, vibrant bass and piano complimented by Ben's dynamic and self-assured drumming. Simon, Tony and Ben flow all the way through this CD with an intense overall sound.

The album contains great rock tunes but also tracks that are both intricate and soulful, compositions with a heartfelt musical essence all uniquely Simon, the track `Something New' expressive of Simon's contribution to a bright, new sound demonstrated throughout the CD.

Simon's poignant string arrangement at the front of `Still Love', his melodic mandolin in `Bed of Roses', and the soulful nostalgic rawness of `She Asked Me' give the CD a emotional vibrancy which is further enhanced by the rocking `Electric Friend', `Make It' and `Making Waves' as well the rest of this excellent CD.

Highly recommended - this is truly Simon's best album yet and one of the finest new releases for 2012!

Well, I think it's my best CD yet. Now let us know what YOU think. You may have to buy it first though. Damn! Cheers, Simon

I was first introduced to Simon through his excellent work on The Who's "Quadrophenia Live" DVD. I began checking out his singles on YouTube. This is a standout album! Simon is a fantastic artist in his own right. You don't have to be a Who fan (but it doesn't hurt) to appreciate his talent. This isn't Pete's little brother's effort, it's an unbelievable talent. Not a bad song here. Your friends will be so jealous, and you'll look like a genius.

Simon Townshend's best album yet sounds at times similar to his brother and/or the Who, but, generally, it is just a collection of thoughtful, melodic songs.
