As usual, I enjoyed the story, but the characters are what make the book for me. Sam, Faye, Alan, Sweets, Rosanna—they’re all so well fleshed out that they seem like real people. I really got a kick out of the verbal sparring between Sam and Faye. And I’m very curious about Sam’s newly discovered erogenous zone. :-)
Another thing I liked in this book was the sprinkling of information about Wales—in particular, Cardiff. There was just enough to make it interesting without slowing down the story.
But, above all, I’d really like to know where the author finds all of Sweets’s bad jokes! He seems to have an endless supply, and I hope we’re going to see more of them—and him.
This installment stirs a political theme, which I related to in regard to what happened to my disabled husband a few years ago - government cutbacks and false reports - we fought and won but it was a despicable and unnecessary trauma. I thought this point was portrayed well.
A quick read but meaningful in many ways, well-written and enjoyable.
Recommended.
