I voluntarily reviewed this ARC book.
I am still sitting here a bit bewildered shaking my head! Looks Like Trouble to Me is a story of addiction, Physical/mental abuse, living and dealing with the demons of the past, secrets, deaths, revenge - betrayal and insecurities.
This book will make you think. Make you chuckle.. make you flush from the heat ** the bike scene** Or ** the basement scene fans face** Give you a bad case of the feels, or in my case wanna throw something at some fictional characters heads <sigh> add in some romantic moments and you have this jam-packed read which left me with an ending that made me say some choice words. No matter..
I will be sitting here not so patiently waiting for the next book
I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this frustratingly addictive book
The chemistry between them is intense and Jace obviously has quite a kinky streak. The steam level in this book felt high and yet there is a lot of story to go with the lust. The pair are also very into their dirty talk, Jace seemed obsessed with whether Zoe was 'wet for him'. Gosh with his brooding, sexy demeanour and dominating ways she wasn't the only one!
There were times I wanted to shake Zoe as she bleated the same 'how can I trust you?' lines. It wasn't that I didn't understand her lack of trust, and Jace didn't help with his secret keeping, but she was so happy to listen to, and believe, people she didn't even know. However at other times I was totally with her when she was freaking out at Jace! I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the tension and struggles. The book is written in third person format, with each chapter focusing on either Jace or Zoe's POV. I liked how this allowed me to see the emotions/thoughts/feelings of both characters as this made me more invested in them.
The relationship develops really quickly, and normally I dislike insta-love, however again the author made this a part of the story and a cause of stress, particularly for Zoe. Jace isn't the only one with commitment issues, Zoe might think she just wanted a man to love her but she ran mentally ran away when she had this.
This is the first of two books, and sort of ends on a cliffhanger, although it isn't one that makes you annoyed with the author. It's more of a segue into another chapter of their lives. This book is full length i.e. 4-5 hours reading time, thankfully the author isn't one of those that writes a story and splits it up into very short novella's. It would be possible to step away from the series, there was a HEA of sorts, however I very much enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more about Jace and Zoe.
