Yu-Gi-Oh

Product Description

Now you can jump into the action of the Back to the Future movies, with this ingenious new time travel card game. Your mission is to make sure pivotal events are not changed by other time travelers before time travel itself gets un-invented. Using a unique, patented game mechanic for simulating time travel, Andrew Looney now puts you in the driver's seat of the famous DeLorean. In this game you are a time traveler, a descendant of one of the characters in the Back to the Future movies. Unfortunately, other time travelers have been tampering with events in your past, endangering your very existence. You must put things back in the ways that seem right to you, then stop Doc Brown from ever inventing time travel, which will freeze reality the way you need it to be, once and for all. The game is played entirely with cards, but has the feel of a board game since important events are represented by a special grid of 24 cards called the TimeLine.

I got this game for myself, being a fan of simple card games and reading a review for it that compared it to Chrononauts, a very similar game by Looney Labs. Chrononauts was a little too complicated for my family, but the review stated that BttF was a much better constructed game and made it a little simpler. It was right! I taught this game to my whole family (young and old) and we had a blast playing it. Very nice art, great simple mechanics and a good variety of cards has made this one of our favorite games.

I would comment that another reviewer seems to not understand the game. I can't understand why, it really isn't a hard game. If you want a good explanation of the rules and more reviews, please go to [...]
Enjoy!

If ever there were a match made in heaven, Chrononauts (the time travel game from Looney Labs) and Back To The Future (the time travel trilogy from the 1980s) is it. This game is essentially Chrononauts re-branded with Back to the Future references, and a few little rule changes to give it more of a Back To The Future flavor.

For those who aren't familiar with Chrononauts, the point of the game is to change the timeline by changing "linchpin" events -- if Emmett Brown hadn't hit his head on the toilet while changing a clock in 1955, he wouldn't have invented the flux capacitor, for instance. If that hadn't happened, many other events wouldn't have occurred, either, and changing one event causes ripples to go through the timestream, which you can "patch" with alternate histories.

It's a terrific game, highly portable, as durable as any deck of cards, and recommended for anyone who likes time travel, Back To The Future, or both!

It's fun! It's random! It's about half skill, half luck. Best played with 3 or more people. Games can last from 15 minutes to 2 hours. Ripplepoints do not need to be played with, they're just an extra step, unless you're playing with mega BTTF Fans, it's best if you don't play with Ripplepoints. If someone asked me to make a BTTF card game, it'd be pretty hard to top this.

The instructions seem confusing at a glance, but I assure you, it's pretty simple to get a hang of. Oh, I wish it came with the pizza rehydrator card. I'm going to feel like my deck is incomplete forever!

I got this game for my daughter (age 21) for Christmas. She's a H-U-G-E BTTF fan. I have to say, this seemed incredibly complicated while reading the directions. However, after a practice hand, we quickly caught on. You do not "have" to know the movies to play the game, but it certainly makes it more fun. We played several hands, most lasting satisfying not-too-short, not-too-long timeframes. One game did take a long time, which was still fine. We played with 3 players. I would think that 3 or 4 would be best, because the fewer players, the less crossover in the timelines, which is what creates a bit of havoc, i.e., fun. Great game - well done.

I saw this game at a store and lost my mind. I needed this game and I bought it on the spot. There was no way to say no.

When I brought this to Comic Con, I realized I could only play this at lunch due to the space needed for the timeline.

Players are people in the BttF who only exist if a specific timeline is left in place and not able to be changed. Play involved draw and play a card. Played cards can be items, devices and time machines. Players use time machines to fix their timeline and then destroy time travel.

WHAT DID I LIKE ABOUT THE GAME:

I like that winning is surviving, that multiple people can survive, and that time travel isn't easy to destroy. The items, their abilities and the time travel mechanics are just what a die hard fan would want.

WHAT DID I DISLIKE ABOUT THE GAME:

Why am I playing non characters. I'm upset I can't play main characters, but get it. Why can't I play side characters who actually exist in the franchise?

WHO IS THIS GAME DESIGNED FOR?

Die hard fans of BttF or anyone with a love for time travel principles.

RATING!
6.2 out of 8. Game play is only bolstered by franchise and cards with well loved classic BttF iconic items.

And when I say too long I mean it can take around 4 hours if there are many players. But it's good for a maximum of 4 players. It would take around 30 min to an hour... The more players there are, the longer it gets, so I strongly recomend not playing it with more than 4 players.

The games is EXTREMELY complex. However if you are a true hardcore fan and you have the IQ to get through the instructions then the games is a lot of fun to play. The cards are great quality and the box is nice and sturdy to hold the game when you aren't playing it.

If the instructions are too much for you there are great tutorials on YouTube that further explain this game.

It's a fun gift for your brainy Back to the Future friend of family member!!!

This game is more fun the more people you have playing the game. The directions took a couple minutes to understand, but once we got the hang of it, the game was fun. It's very strategy driven, so younger players might need help. For fans of the Back to the Future films, it's a must.
