Well Tomas is going to do whatever he damn well pleases. Being raised in a crime family and being the "black sheep" has given him quite the outlook.
I love how Alice gave us a glimpse into their past and how they connected as college kids. Though through a cam lens gave Mikayla some anonymity during those days. Tomas just needed some sort of connection outside of his family. He felt like such a disappointment that he sought out "love" through a screen.
Fast forward to current times and Mikayla is investigating the Ramirez family and their organization. Interviewing to be Tomas' PA was a spot of luck or misfortune... that is up to you the reader to decide.
We are also introduced to the rest of the Ramirez family. We have Mateo and Santiago, the older brothers. Then their father and grandmother. Alice does a great job of world building in any genre she chooses to write in.
Quentin had to be the best best friend ever. He is the glue to Mikayla's mayhem.
The only thing I wanted more of was the story! I cannot wait until the next book releases!
This is my first book by Alice K. Wayne and I'm happy to report that is was simply fantastic. I have a weakness for mafia romances... and they can be hard to come by when you are looking for something special. But Wayne delivered on all fronts and left me on the edge of my seat for just a little bit more.
The Lords of Miami: To Catch Her is the first installment in this thrilling series. Packed full of heart, heat and suspense, this story took me on a journey full of ups, downs, and everything in between. To Catch Her was sexy, sweet, intense, captivating, passionate, suspenseful, and nothing like I expected it to be in the best kinds of ways.
Tomas.... troubled guy who connected with one girl in a different kind of way a few years back. Even when she disappeared, she was never far from his mind. Now, he is older and trying to prove himself and when the one who got away walks back into his life.... he'll do anything he can to keep her there, even playing a little dirty to get what he wants.
Mikayla...sweet, trusting, and has a little mark from her past in the form of being a cam girl. She's not overly proud of it but she did what she had to do to make ends meet. Now she is ready to take on the world and about to make a change that is going to alter the course her life. When Tomas blasts into her world, nothing will ever be the same.
This journey was brilliantly penned despite that ugly cliffhanger that made me want to scream. Told in multiple point of views, the Ramirez family is full of complications, control, and mystery... but Tomas and Mikayla are something important.
This book was full of layers and I enjoyed each one that was peeled back, relishing and savoring each bit that was given to us. And seriously y'all, I am on pins and needles for the next in this series.
I highly recommend this book.
I've read both of Ms. Wayne's paranormal books and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book since she was stepping into a new genre. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!!!
Tomás is the youngest son of a crime syndicate in Miami. Mikayla is paying her way through college being a camgirl. They meet up on the website Mikayla is camming for and Tomás ends up buying two nights a week so she will be his for the night. They talk about anything and everything after she gives Tomás the show that he paid for. She begins to develop feelings for Tomás that her camming friend, really her best friend Quentin, says that she shouldn't and to end the relationship with Tomás.
Years later they meet up again but Mikayla does not recognize Tomás because they wore masks in all of their encounters while she was camming. Tomás didn't recognize her immediately, but after a few encounters with her he knows that it is his camgirl. Tomás has a proposition for Mikayla, she will write her story on his family portraying them in a good light and she will have to do tasks for the family or she ends up dead.
She gets tangled up in questionable situations and puts her best friend Quentin at risk also when he accompanies her on her "assignments". Mikayla begins to question her moral compass when tragedy strikes Quentin. Will they all make it out unscathed?
