From Lorelei's secret diary:
The cold water soaks our clothes. I am wearing white linen and little else. His eyes explore every inch of me. He cannot le go even to preserve my modesty. I want him to see, I want him to know. He closes his eyes, breaking the spell. He sets me down, takes my hand and leads me out of the waterfall. My body is flush with his desire and mine. This could be the best day of my life. It's certainly the best day I can remember.

I bought it because I'm a fan of Guiding Light and have to say it really does a great job of filling in the missing pieces of Lorelei's past that the show never really addressed. I thought the most fascinating part of the book was that, in creating the backstory for this character, Ms. Chamberlin chose to make Lorelei's past so similar to Beth Raines' past--the only difference being that Lorelei acted the way Beth wanted to and never could. It's such an interesting aspect of Beth's psyche, and I give kudos to the author for helping us understand why the character of Lorelei arose.
It's a very easy read, and although I'm sure any fan of GL will find it entertaining, you don't have to watch the show to understand what's going on. At its heart, it's the story of a woman's struggle to remember her identity, and that, in itself, was very compelling.

I am a long-time Guiding Light viewer and have just finished reading Lorelei's Guiding Light: An Intimate Diary. I found it to be a very enjoyable, interesting, and sexy. It's the perfect beach read and provides plenty of insight into the Lorelei Hills character (or as we learned, personality of Beth Raines). The conclusion the show had for the storyline was, in my opinion, too fast-paced and did not provide us viewers with the closure we needed. However, this very revealing book did just that. Beth Chamberlin proves by writing this book that she is not just another pretty soap opera face, rather an intelligent, gifted writer with an honest understanding of her character. I would recommend this book to all watchers of Guiding Light with even the slightest interesting in Lorelei Hills.

I am an aspiring writer(not yet published)and I have never seen the Guiding Light television show. I purchased this book after seeing Beth on The Early Show. I was intrigued at the idea that someone could write a novel in a week and get it published. That's almost ten thousand words a day.
I was all set to pick this book apart paragraph by paragraph. Instead I was treated to an entertaining, easy read. It's not War and Peace, but I was never led to believe it was anything more than a romance novel. I enjoyed the angle of attack of writing in diary form and using the dream sequences.
This is a simple, entertaining read and an amazing feat of writing for this first time author. I look forward to what she can produce with a year's worth of effort.

It's hard to focus on the content of this book - what little there is - when trying to muddle through the grammatical and mechanical errors. (I understand this is written as a diary - but come on! At least insert some personality in order to compensate for poor writing skills!) There's not much of a story to sink your teeth into and there's no continuity between the events of the book and the current storyline that is in place for the character. Ms. Chamberlin is a fine actress whose character is an important part of the show's long history; I'm hopeful she'll keep her day job!
