Lorene Scafaria - Writers on Writing
New Jersey native Lorene Scafaria began as a playwright at sixteen, putting up small "Max Fischer-esque" shows in Manhattan, followed by a career of answering phones at a now-defunct film company. After two years of being broke in the big city, she packed her car and drove to Los Angeles. Three years later, after setting up her first spec, The Mighty Flynn, at Warner Brothers, she read the manuscript of Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist and absolutely had to adapt it. Her love of the music-driven book, as well as the purchase of her first piano in ten years, led to recording an album during the 2007 writers' strike, called Garden Party.
