During all those years afterwards, it never occurred to me to check the Internet for them. Last week, I got on Amazon to leave some feedback and saw these on a flash sale. Oh the nostalgia... After it wore off.... and I saw the flash sale was almost over.... I bought them!
It's so nice to have convertible gloves like this again!! I have large hands, so wearing bulky gloves makes common work tasks like picking up small objects or pressing small buttons nigh impossible at times. With these, I can use my fingers freely! Do the mitten cover tops work as well as standard mittens or full length gloves? Of course not. But it still warms my hands enough, and I happily trade extra glove warmth for more capability with my hands.
With old bulky gloves, for example, my hands stayed completely warm. But if I wanted to say, get my keys out of my pocket, I had to take a glove off to get the keys. With these convertible gloves, my hands stay fairly warm with the mitten top covers on, but if I want to get my keys, I just flip back one of the mitten covers, dig into my pocket and get the keys, then pull the mitten cover back over my fingers.
These gloves have reminded me why I so fondly remember the old set of convertible gloves I had, and why I wore them literally to pieces.
The attached pictures show him reading the newspaper after being release from the hospital. He is an amputee and he fractured his other "good" knee. The simple pleasures of these fingerless gloves make him happy!

There were some things I noticed though that made me mark down a few stars. First and foremost, they aren't nearly as thick as I thought they would be, but my hands stayed relatively warm so I can't complain. I did notice that I could feel the breeze through the fabric of the glove on the left hand but didn't have that problem with the right handed glove. Also, as soon as I opened the gloves they appeared as if they were covered in some kind of pet hair. I took an up close picture of what I'm talking about. And there were random loose threads in between the fingers on the gloves. Also, the piece of fabric that loops around the button to keep the fingers exposed was really difficult to get off of the button. It's just a small piece of thread that I don't see holding up well after multiple uses. Lastly, I have small hands for a grown woman and these gloves are small. They fit me fine, but are tight in the fingers and the wrist. I don't see these fitting someone with normal size hands.

-my hands are on the small side so, if you have large hands, these might not be for you
-the fingertips do not look "finished" which doesn't bother me at all but I could see someone else not liking the look of it
-sometimes the velcro that holds the mitten end in place will get caught on other things but I as long as I remember it is there, this is easy to avoid.
