From the Author
I have learned so much on the journey of writing Losing Adam,
and I will be forevergrateful to all the brave men and women who shared their stories with me.Writing about mental illness is difficult, and in telling Adam's story I felt atremendous responsibility to get it right. I wanted to tell a story that wasreal and true and captured the experience, not only of the person living with amental illness, but of the people who love them.
Schizophrenia is a devastating disease andthe lives of the people it touches are forever changed.
I believe in the power of stories to bring people together, and most of all, to create empathy and understanding in a world desperately inneed of both. I hope Losing Adam
helps people to understand, even a little, what it's like to struggle withmental illness. And even more importantly, I hope that readers who are livingwith mental illness themselves, feel a connection to Adam and Jenny's story.
