I believe from the beginning of Max and Ace's first sighting of each other, before they were fully introduced or in the discovery of friendship, their hearts recognized the other as two parts of the same whole. Unfortunately, they were too young to understand the significance of such a connection.
Yet, their hearts knew each other.

In these two stories, there is so much subtext, such a complex history in each of the major characters. How the author weaves that history into one final understanding between these two people is a intricate and compound undertaking. The prose is beautifully written. It portrays the very poignancy of each episodic memory and its significance.

To understand the emotional impact it took for Ace to Become His, the reader should begin the first episode as it leads us into Losing Her, the point of view from Max. The unraveling of his memories and the richness of his feelings for Ace is beautiful, for each struggle to brings us closer to the resulting chasm. A divide so great, neither can stand too near the fallout. As you read the shattered pieces begin to puzzle together and you are left wondering...

To understand those more complex historical issues, the reader must delve into the primary characters points of views to discover which memories pinpoint the pivotal moments involved in their emotional reactions.
Their points of view will help the reader grasp the roadmap explaining the couple's complex interplay of push and pull. These innate reactions are traced back to each of their familial relationships. Max and Ace's emotional impulses have been suppressed from everyday interactions but continue to influence each character's behavior.

"You could have asked for the moon and I would have worked to find a way."

I fell in love with Ace in 'Becoming His', so I wasn't sure what to expect with 'Losing Her' (since it's in Max's POV). Mariah Dietz surpassed my expectations with this novel. In book 1, you have the angst right from the start that gets your heart racing with anticipation. In Losing Her, the pace and dynamic are incomparable. We get the inside track to Max's heart and how he's handling life since Ace left. The longer Ace is gone, the more we see Max start to break down and head down a road that we aren't used to seeing from him. Emotions steadily increase though out until you're left feeling helpless, right along with Max.

I love that we're given information regarding the present and the past. You get to view different experiences through Max's eyes, with his voice. You are also given insight into moments that weren't talked about in book 1 (like drunken lady bits... lol). My heart hurt right along with Max anytime we were in the present and you realized that Ace really was gone. Seeing Ace from Max's perspective helped me really appreciate how strong of a bond they had. The way he describes her and the little things she does (like look over her shoulder and smile) makes you realize that they really are two halves of a whole.

I was given an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. I can't wait for book #3 to see how their story ends.

This entire series enthralled me. I loved both Max and Ace, but most of all, I loved them together. They had a beautiful relationship and I truly enjoyed watching their connection grow. These books made my heart ache in the most delicious way.
In this particular book in the series, we get a look back at things from Max's POV, along with a new material. I'm usually not a fan of alternate POVs, but I thought the author did a wonderful job of giving a fresh perspective. I felt as if I gained a great deal of new information from those parts of the story and truly enjoyed the creative retelling. I highly recommend these books!

Beautiful ~ Deep ~ Strong

If you’re looking for something different, well written, that will make you feel, look no further! There are large parts of the story that are just…deep…painful to the heart….real…so real. And since it’s so well written….you feel it ALLLLL!

Mariah Dietz has given us a continuation of the His series and it’s in Max’s POV. Yup, Max’s POV!!! HOLLER!!!!!

Mariah took a great risk with this story, there is something different about Losing Her. You will notice it when it happens, and I think the reading community is going to love the change. No, I'm not going to tell you, silly! Losing Her will grip your heart and it doesn’t let up. I was amazed at how easily I fell into Max’s world. I think a reason I felt Max so much was because of the switch that Mariah did when writing the story (again you will understand when you read it).

Yes, you will still get to hear about Ace and the Bosse gang, have no fear!

Book one of the His Series (Becoming His), was one of my top favorite reads of 2014. I have no doubt that come the end of 2015 the rest of series will be at the top of my 2015 list.

I read Becoming His in one sitting a few months ago my stomach was just in knots reading it. Finally getting to read Losing Her I was full of just as much angst as I read knowing there is a third book to conclude this story. I loved finding out what Max went thru when he spent three years in Alaska and then all that he went thru after Ace's dad died and she left town cutting off her whole family as well as Max. He made some crazy choices even though everyone tried to get him straight but he really couldn't get Ace out of his head or heart. So bittersweet.
