The characters are interesting and each has their own unique voice. The writing is youthful and inexperienced yet rich with vivid imagery, action and a little sex/violence. There are scenes obviously leading to romance even as the characters are in terrifying jeopardy(getting bombarded by an asteroid storm). In an escape pod hurtling toward a crash with one character eyeing the other in a romantic way is not plausible but, heck, it's romance; and this is just the first few chapters.
Most of us would be thinking of nothing but hanging on for our lives but Mia and Cassidy demonstrate their love for each other in the face of fear. The tension that can come from the changes wrought by interplanetary experiences is evident. But love conquers all, doesn't it?
This book can be read as a stand-alone as the author fills us in on what happened before. The explanations are sometimes a bit obtrusive but helpful.
The book could use a more character driven cover. Readership may be higher if the cover shows those who people the story.
I recommend this book with the caveat that this author has a lot of room to improve. I look forward to more from Kellie Doherty.
