Unless you google Frank C. HIbben you would have no way to know this a book about Hibben's excavation in Sandia Cave in New Mexico and the subsequent, "Sandia Man". After publication of this book in 1946, Hibben rose quickly to prominence in the archaeological community.
Clovis had been excavated in the 20's from which the "Clovis first" theory was formed; an idea behind which many archaeologists became entrenched. If proved true, Sandia Man would predate Clovis by thousands of years, thus an enormous controversy.
As "Sandia Man" was examined in detail and with modern techniques, the theory became more and more suspect. The archaeological community has dismissed Hibben's work at Sandia at best as too flawed to be useful or in it's darkest interpretation, tampered with.
Hibben died in 2002 and with him any hope for the resuscitation of Sandia Man.
