"Lost Angel in Paradise" is the essential guidefor hiking and cycling enthusiasts in the Malibu area with tons of practicaltips and guidance to get the most out of your visit. However, even if there isno chance that you would find yourself exploring this area in-person, just sitback and let Linda's writing take you there! She shares her experiencesand knowledge of the area in such vivid writing that you don't even have to gothere yourself. A highly recommended read. I'm already looking forward to hernext book! Peter Steyn, Editor Globe Rover Magazine***************************************************************************Now you can delight in day tripping adventures along with adventure travel writer Linda Ballou, who's long been known for her enticing articles about her power-packed outdoor days along the sun-splashed California coast from Malibu to Mendocino.Linda's latest book, Lost Angel in Paradise: Outdoor Days from L.A. to the Lost Coast of California (Lost Angel Adventures) offers readers the essence of the experience for 32 wonderful day trips. Each chapter comes complete with her commentary about the trip: what to look for, general directions, a bit of background history as well as suggestions for where she suggests you stop afterwards for a great bite to eat. (After all, you've burned a bunch of calories and deserve an opportunity to refuel.) If you're considering any day trips along the California Coast - from Los Angeles to the Lost Coast - you'll be delighted to know you can now take Linda along with you. Not in person. But the next best thing - a Kindle-formatted book with an app for you phone. (So: Linda Ballou, talking to you at your convenience, from your smart phone.)Anne Holmes, CEO of The National Association of Baby Boomer Women***************************************************************************Lost Angel in Paradise is A GREAT tool for living in, or travel to Los Angeles and along the beautiful Pacific coast. Linda Ballou, anexperienced hiker and outdoors woman, writes so beautifully with lovely descriptions and photos of the amazing hikes few tourists or locals discover .Reading it I felt, "I know she was there and she is describing each place and the many different kinds of hikes, from beach and island to mountaintops, just so poetically that it entices me to go. I hope I can see that and do that hike when I'm there." She incorporates the history of the region in fascinating ways also. For each hike she also includes good information about eateries or what to bring if no amenities are available. It also gives helpful information about damage from fires and natural disasters and what trails are closed or re-opened. I urge readers to download the book totheir phone to have it handy for all their nature hikes or travels in theCalifornia Coastal areas. I give it the highest star rating! From the Author
modern people suffer from being disconnected, not only from nature, but from their own bodies. Technology encourages us to live in our heads and to forget about taking care of our bodies.I know how seductive and addictive the internet can be. I consciously take breaks from it to keep myself in balance. Being close to the elements makes me feel vitally alive. The sensuality that comes with being outdoors in nature is intoxicating to me
Readers who enjoy one of my days might also learn the virtuesof solitude. Social connectedness leaves little time to be alone with your thoughts and to digest intake. Solitude allows your creative self to surface and ideas to bubble up from the deep well of consciousness. Not all who wander are lost

About the author

From my roots in Alaska, I receive strength, centeredness, and respect for the awful power of nature. Numerous adventure articles and essays on my website are set in my homeland. In Hawaii, I found a spiritual awakening, sensuality, and heroine for my historical novel Wai-nani: A Voice from Old Hawaii. Lost Angel in Paradise, takes you day-tripping with me to my favorite outdoor days in sun-splashed California. I share tips for "Wannabe" travel writers in GET GREAT TRIPS. I added Lost Angel Walkabout to my audiobooks for my armchair traveling friends in 2020. I just released of Embrace of the Wild a historical novel inspired by the life of the Victorian Age equestrian explorer Isabella Bird.
I was honored to be selected to be the "Isabella Bird Expert" in the BBC documentary tracing Isabella's hoofprints in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The "Trailblazer" series is scheduled to air in December 2022.

Not only will you discover the best hikes, and yikes there are so many, but where to go afterwards to grab a bite, and dine well. As if that was not enough, she also gives you a taste of the history which many people including those who grew up here do not know.
As a lover of hiking myself and LA, I have found my nirvana. Thank you Linda Ballou for giving us this gift.
