Very light reading, well worth the Kindle price. Historic artifacts, tunnels, caves, well armed bad guys (who can't shoot straight apparently), helicopter crashes, it's all here. If you like this sort of thing (and I do) you'll like this book.

Since becoming an E Book fanatic I have read three other Rain books, like them all.

I would consider to be very light reading, excellent for that book in bed, not so compelling that one could not put down when sleepy.

Characters are larger than life, Oh and I wish I was as fit as the Professor at his age....lol

Will not make NYT Best Reads of 2011, but still a fun read.

This is the second time I've skipped downloading the sample of a book by an author I've previously enjoyed, only to be burned by finding that I've purchased unedited trash. I managed to get through about twenty percent of it, complete with window "cocking" and "lochs" of hair on feet (honestly, given the content implied by these malapropisms, it should have been clearly marked as some sort of voyeuristic tale of hirsute Scottish monsters!), before the storyline became so utterly ridiculous that I had to put it down. I enjoy fantasy and adventure novels, and am quite capable of rather dramatic suspension of disbelief, but if Rain is going to attempt to pass himself off as some sort of indie Clive Cussler, rather than a writer of extremely light, but generally readable, vampire and crime fiction, he's going to have to 1) seriously invest in a qualified editor, 2) better research his subject matter, and 3) not introduce his presumably-mortal journalist characters as supermen before the book even gets off the ground. The only good thing about this book? It taught me that my first experience with downwardly-mobile authors wasn't a fluke. And to never, ever skip downloading the sample, no matter how many of the author's other books I have already purchased. With the immense pool of indie authors to sample, though, it will be a long time before I waste my time downloading one of his samples again.

This book was such a disappointment. I have previously read and enjoyed other J.R. Rain books, like the excellent Samantha Moon series, but this book was nearly unreadable. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the main character survives all sorts of ridiculous catastrophes, and the characters could not be less believable. J.R. Rain is capable of much better--don't waste your time or money on this one.

Imagine sitting by a camp fire and a rugged guide telling you his mountain adventures, of avalanches, snakes, tunnels, soldiers and big guns. That guide is J.R as he weaves archaeology, a missing Professor and the fabled Lost Ark into the story.

Excellent, easy reading!!

I picked this book up reluctantly at first because I thought it might turn out to be preachy however, its anything but. J.R. Rain weaves a tapestry of interesting, believable characters with a dynamite plot. You will root for the heroes, want to cry a bit in the ending chapters. This book makes you wonder, what if the ark really was found in this day in age. What would society believe as a whole after a find like that was authenticated? The Lost Ark has a lot of action for those of us that like that genre and plenty of mystery. For a special deal of .99 cents as of July 2013, you can't go wrong. J.R. Rain writes real good. I have many books that he has written and he's never let me down yet.

Where do I begin? For a start...the story of how his fiance dies changes after you've read through %50 of the book. In the beginning Sam watches his fiance get taken out by a landslide, then half way through the book she has apparently been killed when she slips trying to escape the bad guys! Also, a book that is fiction obviously doesn't need to be a true story but the things that Sam gets away with are out of this world!! Surviving a 300 foot jump into a river, living off the land in a high altitude survival situation..come on! One of the only books that I have stopped reading and if it wasn't on my kindle I would throw it away so nobody else got there hands on it and wasted there time like I did!!

I enjoyed this book. It was fun, a light read as some have said, good pace throughout. However, I really wish these 'new' authors would find someone to proofread the book before they sell it here. NOTHING aggravates me more then reading along at a good pace only to slam into a wall when I find a word that is misspelled, or is used inappropriately.

Examples: desert instead of dessert, prescribe instead of subscribe, you're/your, alternate/alternative, high pitch/high pitched, I COULD CARE LESS, 'bolts of lightening', schnauzer/schnoz, 'wreaked of medicine', heals/heels, than/then.

Please. If you ever want to sell more books to me, know what you're talking about. Unless I find one free, or find assurance that his books have been gone over, I won't buy another one knowing I might encounter this.
