Sun Tzu Wasn't The Only Artful Warrior

Zhao An Xin really believes in the Athenian Arts, the art of strategy, and he wants to teach all of us to live more strategically. This book includes three texts on the art of war, with commentary and presents the salient points in both mind map and outline form. So what do you get? Xenophon's 'The Cavalry General', probably my favorite of the three, applies equally well to commanding troops or managing a business. The Arthashastra, an Indian manual of statecraft, is next. I'm going to come clean and admit I haven't got into the Arthashastra that much yet. The you have the 36 Ji, a collection of quick strategic tricks to master your opponent. I think is where the mind map format really works well, mapping all the tricks in a collection for a quick visual reference. If you like Sun Tzu, if you like strategy, you should like this.

Zhao An Xin knows a lot a about strategy. He has selected the best of the best from the Chinese masters so that you don't have to look them up for yourself. All compiled in a handy and comfortable sized book, you can carry around and that's practical for study. All translations are very good, into plain, understandable English.

Once you've got Sun Tzu's Art of War, Sun Bin's Military Methods, and THIS book, you have completed your Chinese strategy library.

As a bonus, you get Zhao's mindmaps, that extract all the higher concepts from the treaties. The way Zhao studies and captures strategic wisdom is unique and a model to follow for all strategy scholars.
