F. William Engdahl is a political economist and founder of Engdahl Strategic Risk Consulting, providing geopolitical strategic risk advice to companies and financial institutions. He has specialized for more than thirty seven years in geopolitical analysis of global events, and is an American citizen living and working in Germany since 1985.
Mr. Engdahl was a lecturer in economics at the Rhein-Main University in Germany and was a Visiting Professor in Political Economy at Beijing University of Chemical Technology.
He authored the international best-selling book on oil and geopolitics, A Century of War: Anglo-American Oil Politics, published as well in German, French, English, Chinese, Russian, Czech, Korean, Turkish, Croatian, Slovenian. In 2010 he published Gods of Money: Wall Street and the Death of the American Century and in 2013 a new edition of his best-selling Seeds of Destruction: The Hidden Agenda of Genetic Manipulation completing a trilogy on the power of oil, food and money control. His book, Target China: How Washington and Wall Street Plan to Cage the Asian Dragon appeared in 2014, and The Lost Hegemon: Whom the gods would destroy was released in summer 2015 and also was an international bestseller.
After a degree in politics from Princeton University (USA), and graduate study in comparative economics at the University of Stockholm, Engdahl worked as an independent economist and research journalist in New York and later in Europe, covering the fields of energy policy worldwide; global trade; EU food policies, the grain trade; IMF policy; Third World debt issues; the politics of hedge funds and the 2007-2015 dollar crisis.
He contributes regularly to a number of international publications and electronic media on economics and political affairs including the US Coast to Coast AM, Asia Times, FinancialSense.com, The Real News, Russia Today (RT) TV, Rossiya 1, Asia Inc., CCTV in China, Japan's Nihon Keizai Shimbun, European Banker and Globus in Croatia.
Mr. Engdahl has been a featured speaker at numerous international conferences including the keynote speech to the 2014 Third Nishan Forum on World Civilizations in Jinan, China; London Centre for Energy Policy Studies Annual Retreat, as personal guest of Hon. So you thought Amerika was innocent and altruistic, and those wars were all justified. The amazing part is that I was reading stories in Reader's Digest as a boy about Afghanistan and wondering why it all mattered. Engdahl answered that question and goes even further in showing the imperial ambitions and delusions of this country. We, the workers, are just cannon fodder for the power brokers. For anyone befuddled by the current state of affairs, this book is a MUST. A true revelation!!

This should be a MUST READ for all Americans with a half a brain or more. I haven't read a book from cover-to-cover in so long that I am ashamed to divulge the time. But, I couldn't put this down. It's actually a fairly easy read and extremely well foot-noted. I have read Mr. Engdahl's other books, yet. But, if you wonder what on earth is going on in the world, today, this will provide a clear view and a clear head for you.
This book follows the CIA and the Elites that have their investments in the Energy and Military Industrial Complex arenas from the time right after WW1 up through 2015. It shows that they have used Religion to foment hatred between the majority-Islamic States of the World and the West so that the West has had a "reason" (many fabricated) to go in and devastate these Countries that are rich in natural gas, oil reserves, and other highly desirable natural resources . It also shows how the CIA has used the production (particularly in Afghanistan) and CIA-transportation of drugs (particularly, heroin) as well as the laundering of drug-money as ways to partially fund their grand plans. The other operating costs are born by you, the tax-payer.
They justify what they do and have done by using the words of the Ancient Greeks: "Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful." The common man has always been the pawn. This book should really get you upset. It did me.

It would be impossible to summarize this important book in a few paragraphs. F William Engdahl has written an exhaustive history of the CIA's recruitment of the Muslim Brotherhood, beginning in the 1950s, and its use of them to destabilize regimes and fight proxy wars for the USA from Tunisia to the Xinjiang province of China.

His story begins with the roots of Islamic rage and the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood under Al-Banna in the aftermath of World War 1, after the fall of the Ottoman Empire, Britain's perfidy in the Sykes-Picot agreement, and the Balfour Declaration. It continues with the Muslim Brothers' participation in Hitler's" Holy War" against the Jews under the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem.

In 1979 President Carter's National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski recruited the Muslim Brotherhood to fight a proxy war against the USSR in Afghanistan, and since then the CIA has used them to fight proxy wars for the USA in the Balkans, Chechnya, Azerbaijan, China, and to establish a new Ottoman Caliphate in Eurasia through the work of Fetullah Gulen. Now the CIA and the Muslim Brotherhood are present in Syria and Iraq in the form of ISIS.

America is indeed the lost hegemon. Anyone who reads this book and also William Engdahl's Full Spectrum Dominance will understand how and why America is now engaged in a new Cold War.

Mr Engdahl is a very brave man because he delivers the unvarnished truth, and unfortunately, the truth today is constant corruption among a very few people like the rockefellers and others, the globalists, who believe that they own the world, and we are all deplorables. I've just had the chance to pick up the book today because the Holidays kept me so busy. I gave "Seeds of Destruction" and this book as presents, this particular book for me as well. Mr. Engdahl is a good writer, and makes the subject fascinating, despite the gut wrenching reality. It's a life topic most of us would like to put our heads in the sand about, I want to, but those that thirst for truth will understand this answers questions we worry about. I'm only on page 35, but after reading "Seeds of Destruction" I know I will be enlightened, and knowledgeable.

　このレビューを書いている2022年4月現在、ウクライナに対するロシアの特殊軍事作戦による「非軍事化」と「非ナチ化」の試みは順調に推移している様だが、敗北を受け入れようとしないウクライナ政府=NATO側はネオナチの立て直しを図ってか、各地から傭兵を集め、シリアからもISISを投入しようと悪足掻きを続けている。チェチェンやウイグルのジハード主義者等も加わっていて、事態はさながらアル＝カイダの再起動の様相を呈している。ユダヤ人オリガルヒが資金提供するアゾフ大隊などは反ロシア以外にも反ムスリムの傾向を持つ組織の様なので、ジハード主義者達と一体全体どうやって折り合いをつけさせるのだろうと思うが、こうして見ると、ウクライナに於けるネオナチ（或いはオリジナルのナチと呼ぶべきなのかも知れないが）はジハード主義者の白人版だと言えなくもない。

　本書の記述は2015年までで終わっているが、2015年のシリアに対してロシアが軍事支援を行なって以降、ISISは殆ど息の根を止められた。ウクライナのジハード主義者とネオナチの再編の問題も含めて、このヤクザなテロ商売と過激思想のカップリングが今後どう展開して行くのか、目が離せない。

I have read all of William Engdahl's books to date and find them very interesting, informative and insightful. I puchased "The Lost Hegemon" as soon as I saw it was available and read it with much enthusiasm the week it arrived. The book details the relationship between the United States and Islamic Fundamentalism, from the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood at the end of the First World War to the Islamic State in more recent times. It has a lot of facts packed inside it's 281 pages, plus references at the end of each chapter for further purusal. Whilst I knew some of the details from my own casual studies (the role of the CIA and the Mujahideen during the Soviet-Afghan War and a little of the Chechen Wars), there was a lot of information that was new to me. The strength of William Engdahl's writing is his mastery of tying all the information together in a very cohesive manner. There is a lot to take in and it is unsettling in as much as the world we are shown through the regular media is very different to what actually goes on "behind the scenes" as it were. Recommended reading for anyone looking for a deeper understanding of the rise of Islamic Fundamentalism and the way it has been orchestrated by those nations who we are told are fighting against it.
