Review after some time away so I could give more details:
This book was amazing. The romance really had been going, and the plot was just as good. I'm so into the characters, I can't wait for the next book. There's a sexy Captain Hook type, a princess, a bunch of pirates, a prince, and a guard.Ada and Shane set off on different adventures to save their kingdom, and I equally enjoyed both sides of their stories. This book is full of twists and turns--some predictable, others that completely surprised me.
After the first few chapters it was nearly impossible to put down. I liked trying to solve the mystery of where the Nihyrst were just as much as Ada did. But let me tell you, the romance was amazing, even the ones that were only hinted at. I just can't get over how good this book was. and I really loved how all of the female characters got along and no one was in any sort of competition. Ada is feminine and yet super strong-willed and lethal. I love her determination. She's the kind of female character I want to read about. And the captain has a heart of gold beneath his brooding exterior.
Then there's the plague that hits and all the secrets along with it. I love a book that makes me think and guess what people's motives are. This book definitely did that. I could gush about it all day. I can't wait to get my hands on the next one. Actually, I'm already wanting to get my hands on book three because I know I'm not going to be able to stop after book two. Cait never fails to impress.
The Lost Legends just realeased, but the ending left me craving book 2. I NEED book 2. We all NEED book two, as fast as possible.
I won an ARC for this title, but I had already purchased copies as well. This was one I was waiting to read since I heard of the tale.
I loved this book by Author Cait Marie. I love books that are driven by the characters in the stories and I have to tell you this debut novel by Author Cait Marie did just that. From the moment I began the book, I could not put it down. Each of the characters are essential in the story. Immediately I connected with one of her main characters Princess Adalina. This debut novel has it all and the storyline is amazing. I was so mesmerized by the flow of the characters and storyline which will keep you intrigued all throughout. Bravo to debut Author Cait Marie for bringing this story to life and I can't wait for more from this amazing Author.

The Lost Legends is a reimagining of Robin Hood meets Pirates of the Caribbean and an unexpected dash of Tangled. Now that is a recipe for success. Many years ago Loxley and his merry gang known as the Nihryst have been banished to a faraway island and cursed to live as immortals. Princess Adalina has always dreamt of finding and freeing them. From the time she was a little girl until she is forced to exile herself to save her kingdom her whole life has been about the Lost Legends. As she boards a ship of not what she expected pirates to escape her father, Adalina will be met with a lot of challenges.
The Lost Legends is told in the points of view of the siblings through third-person narration. We follow Adalina and her brother Shane on both of their journeys – Adalina in her search of the Nihryst and Shane left behind by his sister to find out more of the King’s plans. I feel like this was a smart choice for the author as it permits us to continue to learn more about the kingdom and what is happening there. It does give us a lot more worldbuilding than if the story followed solely Adalina.
I have to say that my favourite point of view was Adalina. I related to her more than to Shane though I did enjoy Shane’s character arc. Adalina came off as a stronger character. I sense that she grew a lot more than her brother as a character throughout the journey.
During The Lost Legends there were a lot of surprising twists and turns. Some I did see coming but a lot I did not. It left me quite intrigued for what will come next in the story of the Nihryst. The pacing of the story was a bit slow in some parts for my taste. I did like that it allowed us to breathe but I would’ve loved for it to move a bit faster in some parts. Though when the action got started it went just at the right tempo.
This was a great debut novel and a great start of an epic story. I can’t wait to see what Cait Marie comes up with next
I’ve read many fantasy stories and few have captured me the way this one did. I’m missing the characters already and eagerly awaiting Book 2!
I highly recommend this book to all fantasy and adventure fans. Put it at the top of your reading list!
