Product Description

A decade has passed since the first game, and the face of E.D.N. III has changed dramatically. Terraforming efforts have been successful and the ice has begun to melt, giving way to lush tropical jungles and harsh unforgiving deserts. Players will enter this new environment and follow the exploits of their own customized snow pirate on their quest to seize control of the changing planet. Players will control their heroes across 6 interconnected episodes, creating a truly unique interactive experience that changes depending upon the actions of the players involved. The intense and action packed campaign mode comes with the ability to form teams of up to 4 players online to clear mission objectives with friends. Lost Planet 2 has a huge variety of hardware for players to unleash on unsuspecting enemies. Machine guns, shotguns, rocket launchers, lasers, sniper rifles, grenades and a host of other weapons are scattered across the game. However, Lost Planet 2's biggest weapons come on two legs: the heavily armed and armored robotic Vital Suits return in greater numbers and variety than the first game. There are VS that transform into other vehicles, hold up to three players and some that even take multiple players to operate.

Story
Lost Planet 2, offers deeper insight into the world of E.D.N III, the fictional NEVEC (Neo-Venus Construction) Corporation's attempt to control the flow of Thermal Energy (T-ENG), that is the key to survival on the harsh planet, and the uncertain fate of mankind as they battle the huge insect creatures known as Akrid. A decade has passed since the events of the first game, and the face of E.D.N. III has changed dramatically. Terraforming efforts have been successful and the ice has begun to melt, giving way to lush tropical jungles and harsh unforgiving deserts. Players will enter this new environment and follow the exploits of their own customized snow pirate on their quest to seize control of the changing planet.

Gameplay
Lost Planet 2, like the original game in the series, is a third-person shooter featuring huge boss battles, challenging terrain and the ability to pop in and out of battle mechs, known in-game as Vital Suits. The primary difference in gameplay this time around hinges on the inclusion of RPG gameplay elements. Players can now customize many of the aspects of their playable snow pirate, including his physical attributes, clothing and to a certain extent, weaponry and gestures. Players will control these customized heroes across 6 interconnected episodes, creating a truly unique and interactive experience that changes depending upon the actions of the players involved. With this concept, players will have the opportunity to engage in the story in a much more dynamic way as plot threads evolve from different players' perspectives.

Multiplayer
Beyond the deep single player mode, Lost Planet 2 is loaded with extensive multiplayer modes and play options. This includes 16-player online versus action, as well as a 4-player online co-op support and two-player split-screen functionality in local co-op play. In addition, the intense and action packed campaign mode allows for 4-player online co-op play to clear mission objectives with friends, unlockable weapons and the ability to resurrect fallen comrades.

Weaponry and Gadgets
No action game would be complete without an arsenal of weaponry, and to that end Lost Planet 2 comes loaded with a huge variety of hardware for players to unleash on unsuspecting enemies. There are Vital Suits that transform into other vehicles, and even some that hold up to three players and take multiple players to operate. Also, the grappling hooks that made the gameplay in Lost Planet a true 3D experience are back, allowing gamers to gain tactical advantage by quickly scaling buildings.

STORY *no spoilers* (7/10): Lost Planet 2 is a 3rd-person multiplayer action title that takes place on the planet EDN III, which used to be completely frozen over. However, escalating conflicts between human colonists and the planet's indigenous Akrid lifeforms have caused drastic climate changes to take effect, spawning dense jungles, arid deserts, and everything in between. All of this eventually culminates in a revelation about how the entire planet is threatened by a looming global calamity, and the involvement of the various interested factions will play a pivotal role in how it all will end. Pretty standard sci-fi action plotline, but it works. It's worth noting that there really isn't a "main character" per se, which makes it difficult to relate to the story and the people affected by it. But then, that's not really what LP2 is about. LP2 is all about...

GAMEPLAY (9/10): ...and here is where it shines. By default, LP2 is set up to allow players to link up via the internet and join each other in a cooperative Campaign mode. It's possible to tackle the Campaign mode in single-player, but as the maps and objectives you'll encounter are clearly built to accommodate multiple players, you'll invariably find them difficult to conquer solo. You've been warned. But if you've got a team of armed militants at your back, the experience is highly enjoyable. No, it's downright awesome. Playing in any mode earns you points that you can use to purchase new weapons, equipment, and armor pieces to customize your character. There's a HUGE selection of weapons, ranging from sticky grenades and magnum revolvers, to energy shields and rocket launchers, to mega-shotguns and Death Star-esque concussive laser cannons. And they're all a truckload of fun to decimate your enemies with.

You know, I was gonna pass up on this game listening to all these website reviewers giving this game an average if not poor rating. I guess the reviewers think a shooter has to be first person with blood and guts all over the place. They are idiots! That's why I am glad that I listened to my heart and stepped out on faith and grabbed this title for myself cause it is awesome!!! The game is beautiful from the menu to the multiplayer. The cut scenes are great and I read on some review that the story was hard to follow? Not sure where they got that from as the story is very entertaining. Its about a group surviving on a planet during a civil war. The local co-op is great and works out because I'm not big on online play but then I went online and it was awesome too! This game is deep and when I say deep I mean playing for 5 hrs not knowing where the time went deep! Capcom Does it again!

Lost Planet 2... lost sight of the story... but brought in a solid co op. Unfortunately for the first game Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, which in my opinion deserved a worthy sequel instead got LP2. The story is not very good, but if you are looking for a solid co op game. This game brings it, and brings it BIG. You will find yourself skipping the cut scenes, cause they make zero sense... and dont correlate to the first game AT ALL. But when you are playing... it is a LOT of fun with friends.

the good:

1. Awesome co-op campaign
2. Good graphic and sound, good optimization, support DX11, looks good plays smoothly
3. Lots, Lots of weapons and gadgets to choose from
4. Some of the best singleplayer/coop Mech action on PC, you can even transform and combine with mechs your friend is piloting, awesome!
5. Awesome boss fight, and you fight a lot of them, it is kinda like Monster Hunter with guns and Mechs
6. Good character customization options, and they shows up in the cutscene, it makes the cutscenes even more enjoyable if you have 4 dudes in funny dress (or vixen in skimpy bikini)
7. Overall good production value, lots of entertainment

the bad:
1. GFWL (not much a big deal for me)
2. This game has a small but dedicated community. You can usually find a player match during weekend, good luck trying to do pvp during weekdays.
3. There is no spectator mode in Co-op, and you can do nothing in the waiting room. Well, at least on PC you can leave the game in the background and browse the internet or do something else.
4. Players from all over the world, and many them do not speak English, some of them rather play solo or with their own friends.
5. Like most of the Capcom, story in this one does not make much sense, the actions in cutscene are great though.
6. I have never seen it on sale, the best you can do is grab it when its 50% off during big sales like summer sales.
7. You have to grind your ♥♥♥ off in order to 100% this game.

Wow nice......for $13 I received a brand new game! I was expecting a used or game in a plastic sleeve or other package. I have played this game at other friends houses and I like how this game looked and controlled. I don't mind the game is old but some of these games were made to be fun!

I got this because I wanted a good not M rated 2 player co op campaign mode game.

- First off go onto you tube and watch a game play video for this. and you will see the terrible way they made the screen for 2 players. It's not split screen its some weird diagonal small screen and would not work for a smaller tv.

- You can't have AI bots play with you if you are doing 2 player campaign, making the game next to impossible to play with only 2 people.

- you can only save once you have completed the chapter, so no saving when you want to. And there are multiple missions in between so if you die too many times or you have to leave the game to go do something, you have to re-do all the missions.

-the game becomes more frustrating than fun because of the annoying screen and having to re-do levels over and over because of the difficulty with 2 people.

4 Player online:

- this the the best way to play and is a lot of fun

- you can go through the campaign mode with up to 4 people and bots are added in if you don't have enough real people.

So my review is that if you are looking for a good couch co op, pass on this one. But if you are looking for a good online multiplayer game, this is really good for that.
