In the summer of 2013, Trentemøller toured alongside Depeche Mode, and you may not be able to find a more fitting pair. Trentemøller specializes in a dark, rhythmic, propulsive electronic music that goes along very well with what Depeche Mode have been doing for years now. The Danish electronic musician (real name: Anders Trentemøller) has been on the scene since 2006, and he's go two albums to his name so far (The Last Resort and Into the Great Wide Yonder). He's been a prolific remixer, mixing tracks from everyone as far as Bruce Springstreen, Franz Ferdinand, The Stone Roses, and the aforementioned Depeche Mode. Trentemøller's stamp is the dark, brooding sounds that he records, whether it be on his own music or on someone elses, but that sound might be best embodied on his latest record, Lost. Lost feels like the record that Trentemøller has always been trying to make, and his music has never sounded so full-bodied as it does here.

One of the most notable changes between Lost and Trentemøller `s previous work is the frequency of guest spots. Vocals lace 7 of the tracks here, as opposed to 4 on Into the Great Wide Yonder, and these spots go a long way in terms of pacing the album as to not feel too repetitive or slow. The instrumentals are all pretty good, but they're almost universally not as up-to-snuff as the guest spots. Trentemøller's music borders on drone at times, but it's not spacious (or vacuous) to be interesting as drone music. Likewise, the instrumentals are almost too muted and slow to be good as progressive or standard electronica music. Taken on their own, the instrumentals don't stand up, but they serve well to link the guest spots together, and maybe that's how they ought to be viewed: as interludes.

This is the kind of music that makes you travel to places you've never been before. Its dark, moody and beautiful and you really don't need to fancy electronic music in order to enjoy it. All you need is to dive deep into his album and listen to all it has to offer you. All songs are great and different from each other, so it is hard to get bored.
