We used it with our 8 and 5 year old and it was perfect! I would institute a "chocolate covered banana challenge" and make the kids find all of the answers for the next three rides and if they did, they got a chocolate covered banana! Next was the "churro challenge"... you get the picture... The kids LOVED this. It kept them busy and motivated and before we knew it we were on the ride and they were munching on their churros. We did one or two challenges a day and that would be their daily treat.
It is relatively small and compact, which is completely necessary since you have to bring it around with you. A kindle version of this book would be great!
I did find a few editing errors and since Disneyland is always changing, it can't be 100% up to date, so you need to know that before you buy. I am very critical of Disney parks books that are lame, but this one is great. There were a lot of jealous parents around us in line!
Having a husband that does not like to wait in line, I thought this book would be a good distraction. Something to help pass the time. I was right. The night before we were to take our annual trip, he saw the book and Disneyland's Hidden Mickeys on the table. He teased me about being a Disney nerd, but once I started reading some of the trivia questions to him, his frame of mind started to change.
Being macho as most men are, he still teased me about being a nerd. However, the next day while standing in line, I caught him looking for some of the trivia that I had just read to him the night before. For example, who is on the cover of the book at the Alice in Wonderland ride? I will not spoil it for you, but there was a lot of triva on the Indiana Jones ride, that is where I caught my husband looking around. He even confessed that the book made him look.
If you plan on spending any time at Disneyland, I suggest taking this book with you. It will save you and your family from becoming board in line. The best part, of all this, I found this same book (and the Disneyland Hidden Mickeys) at a store in the park, for way more than I paid. To include freight charges.
