Emmy(R)-winning sitcom star and comic Louis C.K. returns to HBO for this stand-up performance from the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, AZ. The show--Louis' fourth for HBO--will feature a no-holds-barred set of stand-up from one of the hottest comics.
Louis CK is a genius! His material is always funny and somewhat relatable. He's not about telling endless jokes, but rather about twisting experiences into laughter. All of his stand up is different and he's very unique. Saw him Live and laughed the whole night! Can't wait for more new material. This HBO special kept me laughing throughout. You just never know what he's going to say and where it's going to go.

I am impressed that Louie is able to come up with new material. But then, everyday holds something new. His vein of comedy is peppered with starkly real unconscious archetypal banality of evil fanfare. I have never heard someone so masterfully and generally verbalize some of my very own darkest and anti social internal dialogue. He performs his art in a way that brings light to darkness and a good part of the time I am laughing at myself just as much as I am laughing at one of his jokes. His genius is in his fearless probing of the prosaic to the point he steps to the edge of the most intimate thoughts and values we hold about life and each other. Without blaming or condemning, he holds himself and those who are his audience accountable for the darkest expressions of our nature, and in so doing performs an exorcism of isolation, concluding in a collectively stronger sense of shared human experience.

Louis C.K. does his HBO special in Phoenix. The stage is 360. He does his highly inappropriate material as usual. He's a 45 divorced New Yorker father of two girls.
His brand of observational comedy is brilliant. He is lovable. The crowd is into it. It hits all of his various hot spots. He's growing breasts. There's a lot of jerking off, getting off of the food chain, dating and so on.
Comedy is always a matter of taste. No two people have the same funny bone. This is not for the easily offended. His fans will love this. It follows his many other specials.

This standup comedy special reminds me why Louis C.K. is one of the best comedians we have working today. His show, "Louie" is great but doing a solo show is how you can tell a great standup. Watch "Oh My God" and see how skillfully he builds his act. It gets funnier and funnier and he knows how to push the envelope on ideas that make you think, or that are uncomfortable. This is where his genius lies. The man is a master entertainer.
Theater in the round is tough for a performer and can be for the audience. At any given moment someone will be looking at the performers back. Louis C.K. is able to keep moving on the round stage and change his perspective to the audience, which is good since some comics seem lost on a round stage. The cameras are also placed on enough locations to catch him from multiple angles, giving the home viewer a "Godlike" eye on the entire show, something you can't get sitting in a seat in the theater.

I watched this at the urging of my buddies. I didn't think I felt like watching stand up at that moment. Despite my crankiness I found myself laughing my a$$ off for the entire duration of Louis' delightfully irreverent routine. It is really outstanding and well worth the time. Trust me.

I enjoy Louis C.K. and liked about 2/3 of this show. Then it just got to be typical stupid sex jokes and not so funny. There's nothing new to say about sex that probably hasn't been said in some form or fashion, so I wonder why so many comics seem to think they have to do sex jokes to be funny? Or maybe it's just the HBO effect? At least it seems that way to me, but I'm older than he is, so maybe he'll catch up :-) Otherwise, I think he's one of the funniest people since George Carlin and that's saying a lot.

LCK brings his usual expertise to the crowd in this standup. I enjoyed it, as I have all other specials, shows, series he has accomplished. Perhaps I over exposed myself to his comedic approach, as I find it not so fresh, crisp as when I first started in with LCK. I still look for everything he does, i am a comedy consumer and he is very much at the top. A guaranteed good time.

I saw him in person for part of this - as I understand it, he did 2 shows in Phoenix and they mixed-matched them for the special. It was fun hearing some of the material I'd already heard and then some new material as well. If you like Louis C.K., you will love this. A thinking man comedian.
