I bought this grill three years ago and it does not work. It will not light. First, I was told the problem was an igniter, so I shelled out $100 for that. That did not solve the problem. Second, I was told that I need a new control board - another $100+. The new control board came with the worst instructions I have ever seen on how to install the new control board and all of the wiring. The words on the page are almost indecipherable and they could not be bothered to provide instructions in color when the wiring you need to recreate is all color coded. While I was enjoying the grill while it was working, the expense (about 1/3 to 1/2 of the grill itself) and the time it is taking me to get this working again after 3 years makes me strongly recommend against the purchase of this product and would make me reticent to buy any Louisiana Grill product. A very disappointing experience at this time.

When the smoker works it's awesome however it seems like every 5th time I use it something breaks. I've owned mine about 2.5 years and the barrel has rusted badly. I keep the grill outside under a covered porch it's only been rained on three times. I've replace the control board once or twice and it now needs another one. I've also put a couple heating elements in it. I just received a new barel but can't use it because the controller board is shot. I really want to like this grill/smoker but it's broke many times.

As with other reviews here, this grill has been a huge disappointment. In less than 2 years I have replaced the main control board twice, the ignition element three times. I learned that you can't use if for a long smoke, the auger gets hot and catches the pellet box on fire. When it worked it was "ok". The grill has trouble maintaining temperature when set. For a smoke I have to set it on 300 to get 250 in the box. Customer service is lacking, they send the parts out, but the instructions are abysmal. I definitely feel scammed after dropping a grand on this thing! And lo and behold, I try to turn it on last night for some steaks and the heating element is out again!!! Not sure how you can have such poor quality and still remain in business. Buyer beware!

Ordered this grill along with digique upgrade panel in mid july 2013. The grill arrived mostly intact even though packaging was damaged. As I started to put it all together, I realized there was a fatal flaw in the product sent to me. The firebox was separated from the grill wall with a 1/2" gap. Try as I am, I could not get the firebox to seat properly and the gap was too big to seal with hi temp caulk. So, I called amazon and they were great about sending a new one. I got the new one and checked the firebox right away. This one was seated properly but whoever sealed it must have been a 3rd grader. No problem, a trip to lowe's and a caulking gun fixed it right up. Also had to spray the inside with bbq black to repair blemishes from all the stuff loosely packed in the grill that rolled around during shipping. Put the grill together in about an hour. Made pecan smoked salmon for dinner and it was delish! Get the digique upgrade panel. It turns this grill into a set it and forget it affair!. Only complaint I have is the unit was supposed to come with stationary leveling legs. Both units came shipped with two cheap furniture casters that do not lock! I am going to call and complain to Louisiana grills and see if they can ship the proper leveling legs cause my grill wants to roll around whenever I lift the lid or lean on it. Other than that, I'm pleased with the product even though it took a while to get it working. Lastly, don't buy the flame thrower plate. Even though the product description on amazon doesn't say it, this unit comes with the flame thrower plate inside.
Addendum: 9/6/2013. I've had this grill for almost a month and I love it. I'm thinking about adding the cold smoker box from the louisiana grills official website as this is not available on amazon. As far as I know this is the only pellet grill that has the capability to truly cold smoke stuff.
