A sweet love story of childhood sweethearts turned best friends, and who had two things in common; a love for basketball and a love for each other. Making it BIG in basketball was a dream and goal they both shared and excelled in. Stellar cast. Great chemistry between Sanaa Lathan and Omar Epps. Great soundtrack as well.

Love and Basketball is so extraordinary, I can barely find the words to describe it. The lives and loves of two next door neighbors, Quincy and Monica, are wonderful weaved in a tapestry that will have you amazed! From young children to grown ups, we find these two struggling to deal with and master both Love AND Basketball as they go through life. It isn't easy, but this wonderfully written and directed film grabs every emotion, every situation and carefully lays it bare, then covers it with healing, love and laughter.
Even if you don't particularly like basketball, you will still adore the comedy/drama of the relationships in this movie. Whether it's Quincy and Monica, Quincy and his father, Monica and her mother, or the short, but significant appearance of Tyra Banks near the end as Quincy's fiancee. You will be completely captured from beginning to end. And unlike many other movies, Love and Basketball never sells you short. Every moment counts and at no time was I bored or screaming "NEXT!!" at the tv.
I highly recommend this one. Not only for the superb acting, writing and directing, but it has the most AMAZING soundtrack!! When you hear Angie Stone's remake of Simply Red's song "I'll Keep Holding On", you will have tears in your eyes. Trust me. This one's a definite Must Have!

We basically know this movie word for word in my house. A family favorite. All three of my brothers played ball and one of my best friend's is also named Monica Wright and she played the same position in high school. We love this movie!

My 4 year old niece loves this movie so now she sits steal at least twice a day, while I'm doing household chores and cooking for us whenever she's visiting. ( since COVID-19 she's not been able to come and enjoy her favorite movie)😞

Love and Basketball is a great movie for women and men to watch because there is something for everyone to enjoy, first love and sports what's not to love about that? This movie is one of Sanaa Lathan's best work. It's a well-acted and directed movie. Alfre Woodard is an excellent "mom" in every movie she's in. The only gripe I have about this movie is the director should have left Gabrielle Union out of this film....her part was useless. She always plays a bitchy role and it's so old and exhausting...that's why she is not the main character. I would definitely recommend Love & Basketball as a date night movie if the date requires staying in.

I am pretty sure everyone have watched this movie before. I rented this movie and you can rent it for 14 days.

This movie is a classic. Had to get the digital copy.

Trying to ignore the fact this was a big Nike ad, it's a movie I will watch over and over again.
